Two people remain wanted by the Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) following an armed robbery at Oakville Place Mall.
On Tuesday, July 2nd, at roughly 6:00 p.m., three masked suspects robbed the WOW Mobile Cellphone kiosk at the mall at knifepoint. One of the suspects was caught by security guards at the mall and arrested by police a short time later. One of the security guards was assaulted by the suspect and suffered a minor injury. Two suspects were able to flee in a white Honda Civic with a small amount of cell phones.
19-year-old Matthew Garcia of North York has been charged with the following:
- Robbery
- Disguise with Intent
- Assault with Intent to Resist Arrest
Garcia was released from custody after a bail hearing and will next appear in court in Milton on Tuesday, July 30th.
Investigators are seeking to identify the two additional suspects. The HRPS has provided descriptions:
- Suspect 1 is a black male, and approximately 5’10 tall, with a slim or medium build. He was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt with the hood up, a mask, black sweatpants with grey thighs, and black running shoes.
- Suspect 2 is a black male, and approximately 6′ tall with a slim build. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with the hood up, black sweatpants with white stripe(s) vertically on the outside of the thigh, as well as white or grey running shoes.
