Are you tired of workplace jargon?
According to a study, these are the top phrases to avoid at work:
- Think outside the box
- Synergy
- Leverage
- Circle back
- Low-hanging fruit
- Move the needle
The study says that using these words in emails for work could actually make you come across as more unprofessional than anything else.
Any phrases you’re tired of seeing in work emails?

Daily WTF – Woman Who Didn’t Know She Was Pregnant Gives Birth at Golden Corral, Names Baby After Restaurant
For a lot of people, it’s hard to name a baby. It’d be even harder if you were put on the spot. For Tayvia Woodfork of Arkansas, she didn’t know she was pregnant! Suddenly, while out for dinner at the Golden Corral last month, she went into labour. After a hectic day, she gave birth to a health six pound baby, and decided to honour the restaurant where it all started: The Golden Corral. Her son was named Tamaar Kylon Corral Woodfork. Really trumps my plan of naming my son Burger King Jones.
Daily Did You Know – Hundreds of Halton students to take part in annual Special Athletics Track Meet

The Beer Store will be allowed to sell lottery tickets under new agreement
The Beer Store will soon sell more than just beer! Ontario Premier Doug Ford announced this week that a new agreement has been reached with the store, which will see them legally sell lottery tickets, among other items. This comes as convenience stores will be able to sell alcohol by September 5th. Grocery stores will also get more leeway to sell alcohol this August. So, the idea is this will help The Beer Store in keeping up with new competitors. How often do you go to The Beer Store in 2024? Do you go regularly or are you more likely to go to a grocery store when needed? Would this change your shopping pattern at all? What would change it? Let me know!
Joey Chestnut vs. Kobayashi Hot Dog-Eating Contest Set by Netflix After Nathan’s Bans the 16-Time Champ
‘The Glizzy King’ Joey Chestnut will no longer appear at the July 4th Nathan’s National Hot Dog Eating Contest. He has reportedly signed an exclusive deal with vegan hot dog brand Impossible Foods. The 16-time champ won’t let that stop him from eating as many hot dogs as possible, as he will appear in a live Netflix special, which will pit him versus his old rival, Takeru Kobayashi. ‘Chestnut vs. Kobayashi: Unfinished Beef’ will air on September 2nd (Labour Day). Should be a blast! Joey Chestnut holds the world record for most hot dogs eaten in a 10-minute span with 76… Imagine eating 76 hot dogs in a DAY, let alone in just 10-minutes? How many could you eat in 10-minutes, including the buns? Might need to give it a shot this summer…
GOOD NEWS – High school president writes notes thanking fellow seniors – 180 of them
High school can be a hard time for a lot of students. You have the stress of needing to graduate, while also dealing with all the hormones, relationships, and extra-curricular activities just to find your spot, right? A high school president knew the four years together had been a ride, good and bad, and so he did something special for his graduating class. He wanted to thank each one personally, and instead of attempting to do so in-person, he decided to take a different approach. During his commencement speech at their graduation ceremony, the class president asked each member of his class to look under their chairs. All 180 of them had all received a hand-written, personal letter from him, thanking them for the school year and the memories. He says it took him about ten hours total to write the letters, and the response was overwhelming… And that’s some good news!
24 sets of twins graduate from same middle school
There’s something in the water in Needham, Massachusetts. Pollard Middle School held its graduating ceremony for all of the Grade 8 students heading off to high school. 454 students make up the class, with a historic number of twins! In total, 24 sets of twins are graduating. Imagine being a teacher at the school? You’re probably mistaking at least one student for another every single day. When asked about the anomaly, the students all shared the same sentiment: it’s fun being a twin because you have a friend with you wherever you go. How nice is that?
Martin Shkreli Sued for Copying and Playing Wu-Tang Clan Album Without Permission
Martin Shkreli is in some hot water. If you don’t know who Martin Shkreli is, he’s the finance bro who became famous in 2015 when his company hiked the price of one of their pharmaceutical drugs from $13.50 to $750 per pill. He eventually was arrested and convicted of fraud charges. At the same time, he was also in the news for purchasing an album. Wu-Tang Clan had released a one-of-a-kind physical album that could only be listened to by the owner. He reportedly bought it for $2 million. When he was convicted, he was ordered to forfeit over $7 million in assets, including this album. Well, he’s now being accused of copying this Wu-Tang album and playing it publicly, going against the original sales agreement. He’s now being taken court once again, and if there’s one group you should not mess with, it’s the Wu-Tang Clan. They even have a song about it!
