Milton’s youth can enjoy the annual Read and Ride program once again!
This summer, residents aged 16 and under get free access on Milton Transit buses simply by showing their validated library card to the bus driver upon boarding.
Director of Transit Services for the Town of Milton, Tony D’Alessandro, says he’s excited to continue this partnership with the Milton Public Library (MPL).
Also happening this summer is the TD Summer Reading Club. Students can participate throughout the summer break and earn points, which can be put towards prizes. Learn more here.
The MPL is also taking part in the Summer Giving Campaign. This initiative supports the Milton Community Resource Centre (MCRC) and its Infant Food Bank. It encourages library patrons to donate high-demand items like baby food and diapers. Participants of the Summer Giving Campaign can earn weekly entry codes for prize draws by making qualified donations at any library branch, promoting community support and engagement.
All three programs will launch on Saturday, June 22nd, with an event being held from 1:15 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Main Library, located at 1010 Main Street East in Milton. Mayor Gordon Krantz will be present for opening remarks and the ribbon cutting to officially announce the program and activities. The activities for the day will start at 1:30 p.m., including both outdoor and indoor games, crafts, a scavenger hunt, and various information booths for TD Summer Reading Club.
