With the hot weather, you might be more inclined to spend time outdoors. Orkin Canada says you should keep an eye out for ticks!
There’s been an increase in disease-carrying ticks being reported across Ontario, and residents need to remain vigilant. Follow these tips to ensure you and your loved ones keep ticks out of your home:
-
Maintain your yard: Keep grass mowed, remove weeds, and prune bushes and shrubs.
-
Stick to paths: When walking through wooded areas or hiking, stay on designated trails.
-
Dress appropriately: Wear long sleeve shirts and pants to minimize skin exposure.
-
Perform tick checks: Inspect your body, arms, and legs for ticks when you return indoors.
-
Protect your pets: Keep pets away from wooded areas, patches of tall grass, and other tick-friendly environments.
-
Remove food sources that attract wildlife: As ticks latch on to wildlife, it is important to remove potential food sources and shelter areas to deter them from moving onto your property.
