You’ll want to clear the deck after this long weekend, as a storm is expected to hit Milton and the surrounding area.
Environment Canada is forecasting severe thunderstorms overnight. Along with 90km/h winds, this potential storm will also come with nickel sized hail.
Here’s the full warning:
“Thunderstorms over southern Ontario are expected to continue this evening. Some of these thunderstorms may reach severe limits. Thunderstorms are expected to weaken later this evening.
“Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Locally heavy rain is also possible.
“Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!
“Emergency Management Ontario recommends that you take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches.
“Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.”
The humid weather and stormy conditions will continue into Tuesday. So far, the forecast eventually calls for a sunny sky by Thursday.
Take the necessary precautions for this potential storm, and stay safe!
