How many hours do stay-at-home parents actually work? It turns out, a lot!
A study looking into the “Work From Home” parent found that this role equals roughly 97 hours a week, easily comparable to a six-figure job.
Whether it’s all kinds of cleaning, planning and prepping meals, or simply taking care of the kids, being the stay-at-home parent is a tough gig!
For the parents, how many hours are you putting in? Would you like your pay to reflect that work? Of course, right?
Let me know!

What else did we talk about this morning?
ICYMI – Halton students receiving scholarships after winning at recent science fair
Congratulations to all of the Halton students who took part in the recent Bay Area Science and Engineering Fair in Hamilton. 70 local students ended up winning prizes, including $81,000 worth of scholarships being handed out. Two Halton high school students are in California this week to compete in another science fair. Good luck to them! Make Halton proud!
Daily WTF – ‘Portal’ between NYC and Dublin inspires strangers to flirt, connect and twerk across the miles
A cool thing is happening in both New York City and Dublin. The two cities agreed to open “portals,” connecting residents from both places in an instant. While they can’t physically travel from each location using the portals, they can see whoever is on the other side. The circular video screens are set up with cameras, and they encourage people to stand there, wave, and do whatever. This has led to flirting, chatting, and even twerking. Technology! Ain’t it beautiful?
Daily Did You Know – The history behind Milton’s Clitherow Street and Stemman Place
Each week, we speak with Milton Historical Society President John Challinor about the origins of local street names. We covered two streets this week, which dive into the history of former leader of the province of Canada, as well as a beloved Milton butcher. We’ll have two more next week!
Laurier announces open house ahead of first fall semester in Milton
We’re about to have a university in Milton. With Conestoga College opening its first campus already, Wilfrid Laurier University is rushing to get their foot in the Milton door. They’ll have a small campus available in town this fall, and to kick things off, they’re holding an open house for prospective students later this month. It’s available on Saturday, May 25th at the campus on Industrial Drive. Eventually, the goal is for both Conestoga and Laurier to have campuses on Tremaine Road as part of the Milton Education Village. There’s no real opening date for that campus at the moment.
Solar storm brings northern lights to southern Canada
A lot of people got to see the northern lights for the first time over the weekend. A solar storm brought the lights south, with them appearing all across the GTA, even through a cloudy night in most areas. I myself went out to see them, couldn’t, and went to bed, which means I missed the whole show. It was late, okay?! Anyway, now I feel like Superintendent Chalmers at Principal Skinner’s house.
Toronto awarded WNBA expansion team to begin play in 2026
It seems the PWHL might have kickstarted a trend of women’s professional sports in Toronto. The WNBA will be coming north for the first time ever, with an expansion team announced last Friday. This comes after the PWHL has proven to be smash success in its first year, and the WNBA has been booming in recent years. Toronto will be the 14th team in the women’s league. They’ll officially join the league in 2026.
This shelter mutt from Erie was returned numerous times. Now, he’s competing at the Westminster Dog Show.
Never let anyone tell you your potential! Miles is roughly seven-years-old and has spent a good chunk of his life in the shelter system in the UK. The mutt, with traces of cattle dog, border collie, lab, and hound, was adopted and returned on several occasions. That’s when an animal communications specialist came across him and thought he was perfect. She trained Miles, and now, he’s competing at the Olympics for dogs, the Westminster Dog Show. It’s a true rags-to-riches story, and that’s some good news!
Don’t pick up! Scam calls are impersonating this major Canadian agency
The federal government is warning about a new phone scam that involves one of their agencies. The CRTC are being impersonated by fraudsters. A warning was sent out on X last week telling residents to be cautious about the calls they’re getting. Apparently the impersonators are asking for personal and financial information – which the CRTC says they’d never ask about. So, if you get a call from the CRTC, you’re probably safe to hang up… but only after you remind them to boost our signal.
AI personas are the future of dating, Bumble founder says
If you’ve ever swiped and swiped and swiped on dating apps, only to find that you have nothing in common with the matches you’re getting, you’re not alone! That’s why Bumble is throwing artificial intelligence into the mix. They’ll be using an AI dating concierge, which will allow users to date without ever communicating. How is that possible? Each account will be put through AI, and your AI dating profile will communicate with other AI dating profiles. These AI dating assistants will cut out all the fat and find the perfect match for you. And I say, why stop at dating? Have these AI assistants propose, have them get married, have them squabble over nothing arguments. Show the robots what it TRULY means to be human, and by that, I mean arguing over the smallest of minor details of a story because you both remember it a little bit differently. MARRIAGE – you gotta love it.
