It’s Friday, and I was up late covering the by-election, so let’s doing something easy… Let’s chat some potats!
You can only pick three of these to eat for the rest of your life:
Which ones are you going with?
I’m picking standard, waffle, and curly. Honorary mention to Smiley for always being great when I was a kid.
Let me know!

Daily WTF – Milan backing down on sales ban for ice cream, pizza
Weeks ago, we talked about the ridiculous possibility that Milan, Italy would put a sales ban on takeaway food after midnight. It seems officials had received enough noise complaints to warrant proposing the ban, and this wasn’t even the first time they had proposed it in the last decade. Turns out, when you threaten to ban the sale of things like pizza and ice cream, people go a little wild. Due to fierce GLOBAL backlash, the city has ruled to not go forward with the ban. So, if you ever find yourself in Milan after midnight, go get some pizza. Fight the system, one ‘za at a time!
Daily Did You Know – Milton by-election results
It was a late night last night as the Milton by-election came to an end. We now have our new MPP! Zee Hamid and the Progressive Conservatives won by a pretty significant margin. It was never really close, as he led from the first poll count right to the end. Ontario Premier Doug Ford was one of the first congratulate Hamid on the win, releasing a statement that also denounced Ontario Liberal leader Bonnie Crombie, calling her the ‘Queen of the Carbon Tax’.
Local Leafs fan wins lottery, forgets who won the game
You might have stayed up last night watching the Leafs game. What would have happened if you won the lottery while the game was on? Would you black out? That’s essentially what happened to Lori Keenan of Burlington, as she was playing a scratch card during a recent Leafs game. When she discovered that she had won $100,000, Keenan immediately started celebrating the win with her husband. While picking up the cheque, she told the folks at OLG how she still doesn’t know who won that hockey game… Good news for her, not only did she win all that money, but the Leafs won last night, and they’re now in a sudden death game seven on Saturday… I wonder if she bought a lottery ticket just for the game?

Dua Lipa releases third studio album ‘Radical Optimism’
Dua Lipa’s big weekend has kicked off with the release of her new album. This is her third studio album, and the first one since March 2020… Yeah, much better timing this time around. Reviews are looking pretty good for this new album, with people saying it combines old disco with new pop. That’s kind of been her schtick these last few years, so I’m not complaining. Time to have this thing on repeat all weekend!
GOOD NEWS – Award for ‘incredible’ octogenarian foster carers
A couple in their 80s are being recognized for their work with children. Margaret and Robert Isdale in the UK have been fostering children since 1978. Over those 46 years, they’ve taken in more than 150 children, including newborns. They even have an eight-month-old currently in their care. Asked about why they took on this task, they said they just enjoyed the process of it all and found it rewarding. Despite being in the 80s, they have no plans to stop looking after kids, and hope they can keep it going for a few more years… And that’s some good news!
Do you love your really loud car? Chances are you’re a psychopath
We’ve all been there: it’s late at night, you’re trying to sleep, and someone in a modified Honda Civic has decided to rip it down your street. Unnecessarily loud cars are an ongoing problem all around the world, and a study has found that the people who LOVE their super loud car are likely psychopaths… Yes, really. A study was done at Western University in London, and it found “a desire for a loud car with a modified muffler is predicted by being a man and higher scores on psychopathy and sadism.” They add that these people lack empathy for other people and don’t consider how the ridiculous noise of a modified muffler would affect them. There’s even a connection in personality traits between people with loud cars and those who are willing to commit arson. So, the next time you hear a loud muffler on your residential street at 2am, according to this study, it is in fact, a literal ‘psycho’.
‘I Believe in Joe Hendry:’ Scottish man’s self-made theme song strangely rockets to top of charts
A non-musician is at the top of the music charts in the UK, and is even charting in the US, after creating a song about himself. ‘I Believe in Joe Hendry’ is a one-minute bop created by Scottish professional wrestler Joe Hendry. The song officially released last month on streaming services, and fans have taken the song and made it go viral. It’s #1 on the UK iTunes charts, which account for streaming and digital sales. The song has outsold Taylor Swift and Hozier this week. It’s top ten in Ireland, and 70th in the states. It’s my goal to get random songs stuck in your head for the day, so have a listen… Like I said, it’s a bop.
