The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) has arrested a woman following a break and enter case in Oakville.
On Tuesday, April 23rd, at roughly 8:15 p.m., officers responded to a break and enter report at a private residence in the area of Sixth Line and Dundas Street East. Upon arriving home, the homeowner confronted the suspect inside the garage of the residence. She was reportedly trying to take various items from the garage. The suspect then attempted to flee the area in a stolen vehicle, but in doing so, collided with the homeowner’s vehicle. The homeowner was uninjured.
HRPS officers located the suspect vehicle a short distance away. It was found to be taken from Minesing, Ontario. The suspect refused to stop for police and a pursuit was initiated. In an effort to safely and quickly terminate the pursuit a tire deflation device was successfully deployed allowing officers to stop the vehicle and take the suspect into custody near the intersection of Trafalgar Road and Upper Middle Road in Oakville. In their effort to evade police, the suspect did make intentional contact with police vehicles during the pursuit which resulted in damage to three police cruisers. No physical injuries were sustained by officers.
A subsequent search of the suspect vehicle located a quantity of prescription medications, cocaine, psilocybin, and crack cocaine.
