The most recent ‘Sing for a Cause’ fundraiser was a big success for Active Results Collaborative (ARC) and the Milton Community Resource Centre (MCRC).
On Wednesday, March 20th, people gathered at Ned Devine’s Irish Pub in Milton to sing karaoke and raise money for the MCRC She Can! programs. It was a $5 minimum donation to sing your favourite song. Anyone who was too shy to sing could also donate to have your song performed by one of the ARC Sing for a Cause singers. They ended up raising $1674!
“Thank you ARC, Sing for a Cause, for your incredible support of our She Can! Programs! We had a blast
singing for this cause,” says Becky Andrade, Executive Director for MCRC.
The MCRC website describes the She Can! programs as “are girl centered, designed to empower and uplift girls in our community. These programs will foster strength, leadership and resilience through hands on activities and thought-provoking discussions.” You can find the MCRC at 410 Bronte Street South in Milton.
ARC is gearing up for their next fundraiser, as they have another Sing for a Cause event scheduled for Wednesday, September 11th at The Eighth Note Local Eatery & Live Music Bar. Money raised that night will support Halton Women’s Place.
“The first Sing for a Cause event that we ever hosted was to benefit Halton Women’s Place, so we are looking forward to supporting them again” says Robin Read. “It is an opportunity to bring together community members, local businesses, and philanthropic individuals to support Halton’s only shelter for women and children fleeing gender-based violence.”
