Milton Transit continues to see a rebound in ridership numbers coming out of the pandemic.
According to the service’s annual report to Council, ridership for conventional and on-demand services combined was up 89% compared to 2022 for a total of 619,927 fare paying trips in 2023.
The growth follows Milton Transit’s focus on serving key corridors, expanding OnDemand service, and the addition of new services where needed.
“It’s encouraging to see how Milton Transit is increasing ridership, integrating with transit partners, and taking people where they need to go for life, work and education,” says Kristene Scott, Commissioner, Corporate Services. “Transit is helping lay the foundation for our Town’s vision, by enabling smart density and mobility.”
In 2023, riders also embraced Milton Transit’s cross-boundary service connections with Mississauga, including fare and/or service integration with Halton Hills Activan, Peel TransHelp, MiWay, Brampton Transit and GO Transit. The cross-boundary service is funded in partnership with the Town of Halton Hills.
Ridership in 2024 is projected to surpass 2023 levels due to population growth and expanding post-secondary options.
