A Milton teenager will be playing soccer professionally in Europe.
The Milton Magic Soccer Club has announced that 17-year-old Michela Ionadi has committed for the 2024/2025 season to Ternana Calcio Women’s Professional Football Club. She has spent the last seven months training in Italy ahead of this signing.
It’s been more than a decade of playing for the Miltonian, who first started playing at four-years-old for the Milton Magic. Since then, she’s grown into a top-level player who has earned five International caps for the Malta U19 Women’s National team and an international goal in the 2023 European Qualifiers last April.
“The commitment to a Professional Italian Football Club is a testament to Ionadi’s hard work, perseverance, and the high skill level she brings to the field,” the Milton Magic shared in a press release. “Her achievement not only highlights her development as a player but also underscores the potential seen in her by one of Italy’s competitive Professional Clubs, known for their commitment to nurturing young talent.”
Ionadi is able to reflect on the moment, sharing:
“This is a dream come true for me. I am incredibly grateful for the support from Milton Magic, my family, coaches, and teammates who have believed in me every step of the way. Representing Malta’s U19 National Women’s team was an honour, and now committing to Ternana Women’s Calcio in Italy is an opportunity I am eagerly looking forward to. I’m ready to embark on this next chapter of my career and contribute to my new team’s success.”
She’ll make her debut in Italy this fall.
