People are OBSESSED with the new X-Men cartoon on Disney Plus!
It has me thinking: If you were to have a superpower, what would you choose?
Are you going with the classics like flight, super speed, and super strength? Are you an X-Men fan who wants telepathy/telekinesis, Wolverine’s claws or Magneto’s control over metals? Maybe sneaking through matter or turning invisible is more your thing!
Hey, I think every kid on the planet imagines web slinging through New York City like Spider-Man… What about you?
Do you have a go-to dream superpower? What is it?
Let me know!

What else did we talk about this morning?
ICYMI – The history behind Milton’s Cottrelle Place and Solomon Court
Each week, Milton Historical Society President John Challinor details the origins of select local street names. We covered Cottrelle Place and Solomon Court this week, which are named after a Milton resident who played a pivotal role in World War Two for Canada, as well as a former Milton Mayor. We’ll have two more street names next week!
Daily WTF – Southern California police department using Lego heads to protect suspects’ identities
A new law recently passed in California that has a police department being creative. It states that police departments are no longer allowed to share the identities or ensuing mugshots of criminals in non-violent cases. To combat that, and to remain active on social media, the Murrieta Police Department has been posting pictures of the criminals with Lego heads covering their faces. These heads even come with reaction faces and features like stubble or glasses. The pictures became very popular online, so much so that LEGO has actually issued a statement, demanding the MPD to stop associating their product with criminals… So, it was fun while it lasted!
Shohei Ohtani on gambling scandal: ‘Shocked’ MLB star calls out interpreter’s ‘lies,’ denies paying bookmaker
Well, maybe the Toronto Blue Jays avoiding a bullet on this one. Superstar baseball player Shohei Ohtani has been in hot water the last week or so after his bank account was linked to illegal gambling activity. The blame has since been placed on his interpreter, who was apparently $4.5 million in debt. The man originally said that Ohtani helped pay off the gambling debts, but now says that Shohei had no knowledge of the gambling in any capacity. Ohtani remains adamant that he didn’t gamble, and has never gambled. It’s worth noting: the greatest hitter in the history of baseball, Pete Rose, has been blacklisted by baseball ever since it was discovered that he gambled on baseball… So, there’s a lot at stake here for Ohtani.
Daily Did You Know – Fundraising casino night being held in Milton this May

I’m a spending coach — this is the real reason you are hooked on impulse buying
If you find yourself always buying things on a whim, it turns out, there’s actually a reason as to why that is. A spending coach dove into impulse buying in a recent social media post, and it has since blown up. She says that impulse buying is comes down to how you’re feeling. She says you’re not really buying a product for the product itself, but more for an identity or feeling. You want to be a certain something or feel like a certain someone, so you buy things on an impulse to get closer to that identity. An example she gave is that if someone purchases an anti-aging cream on a whim, what they’re actually buying is confidence. Her advice: ask yourself how you can experience that feeling or become that person you’re aiming to be without buying the product. She says stepping away from your impulse shopping and analyzing the root cause will help you save your money… and that’s probably a good thing these days…
‘Euphoria’ Season 3 is Delayed Indefinitely
One of the biggest TV shows on the planet is being kicked down the road. Euphoria, with its insanely successful young cast of Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, Jacob Elordi, and Hunter Schafer, has been delayed. There’s no timeline for season three, and the cast have been told to find work in the meantime. Some reports are suggesting the show has been scrapped altogether, which is wild! Like, I know we have short memories, but if you don’t know, season one and two of Euphoria were the biggest things going, on par with Stranger Things in terms of popularity. With the show being about high school kids, these adult actors only have so many years before it needs to end, so time is ticking. We’ll see if Euphoria ever comes back!
Titanic’s Floating Door Sells for Whopping $718,750 at Auction, Beating Indiana Jones’ Bullwhip
A historic piece of movie history has just sold at an auction, and it has many people wondering, “what exactly do you do with this?” The floating door from Titanic’s iconic climactic ending just sold for more than $700,000. It went for more than Indiana Jones’ whip and Jack Nicholson’s axe in The Shining. What the person will do with the door, no one knows! Do you keep in the house? Do you put it in water? Does it become a pool toy? What do you do with it? That’s what I want to know…
Scarlett Johansson in Talks to Lead New ‘Jurassic World’ Movie
The Jurassic Park/World franchise has been a weird one. The first movie in the 90s is one of the biggest movies of all time, and the following films have decreased in quality ever since. They’ve now become bubblegum blockbuster fun, comparable to Transformers and the Fast and the Furious franchise. Chris Pratt was the latest face of the movies, with one of his Avengers co-stars potentially looking to tackle the next flick. Scarlett Johansen is reportedly in talks to star in the newest Jurassic World movie. It’ll be her first franchise movie she’s done since leaving the Marvel Cinematic Universe with the prequel Black Widow film, which led to a COVID shutdown-inspired court case all about money. I’m down for ScarJo in Jurassic World, so long as they call the movie ScarJo-rassic World…
US lottery reaches more than $1 billion jackpot
If you’re looking for a cheap way to potentially become a billionaire, look no further than the US Mega Millions lottery! Their lotteries are so different from ours… The Mega Millions jackpot is up to $1.1 billion, making it the BEGA BILLION LOTTERY! This is the sixth time it has ever reached the billion dollar mark. If you have a way of buying a ticket, I suggest you do! You could potentially never have to work again, and same goes for your kids and your kids’ kids. Generational wealth… That’d be nice…
Solar eclipse tips for next month
For a lot of people, next month will be the first solar eclipse they ever experience. If you’re wondering what you should do, experts have released a list of tips to follow:
The first one to follow is to get gas ahead of time. If you’re in a place with complete totality, there’s expected to be a bump in population. For instance, Kingston is expecting half a million people in the city, when their population is listed at 136,000, so gas stations could be packed if you need to fill up on the day of the eclipse.
Expect cell coverage to be poor if you’re in a well-populated area like Kingston for the eclipse.
Avoid looking at the eclipse before and after totality, as the lack of light will trick your irises into expanding while UV lights can still affect your eyes. You could burn your retinas without realizing it, permanently harming your vision. You can wear special eclipse glasses for the experience.
Keep an ear out for birds, as they’ll be very loud before the eclipse takes place.
Dress warm! The temperature will drop during totality.
Most importantly – have fun!
