Do you like to complain, rant or vent?
It turns out, you should avoid it! According to researchers at The Ohio State University, screaming and complaining about what bothers us doesn’t promote a calmer state of mind.
They found that deep breathing, mindfulness, meditation, yoga, and counting to ten all do a better job at calming us down.
Are you someone who vents your frustrations?

Daily WTF – Woman finds live grenade while cleaning out deceased father’s home
A Quebec woman found an explosive surprise while cleaning out her late father’s home. Kedrin Simms Brachman says that when her dad passed away, she was tasked with going through his house. She went into his sacred tool room, where no one was ever supposed to enter. Turns out, there was probably a good reason for that. Looking inside his tool box, Simms Brachman came across a LIVE GRENADE. She and her sister immediately called the police, who then sent in the army to deal with it. Two soldiers put in a box and took it away. Reminder – don’t play with grenades!

Months after hitting the 40 million mark, Canada’s population is already nearing 41 million
Canada’s population is in a bit of a boom period. Just a few months ago, the country finally hit 40 million people. It took a while! Stats Canada says that, as of March 18th, we’re nearly at 41 million people. They believe we’ll hit the milestone next month. This growth spurt stems primarily from immigration, as people flee war and other issues. We’re still pretty sparse in terms of population, considering we’re the second biggest country in terms of land mass with a population comparable to California. Still, we might need to start moving more north here in Ontario… life is expensive in the GTA and there’s a lot of land up there… Just a thought.
Blue Jays release new video update on Rogers Centre renovations
Just a few weeks before the home opener, the Toronto Blue Jays have released an update on their latest renovations. The team has once again improved the stadium, spending millions and millions of dollars. They released a video on social media that details all the new improvements, adding onto everything they did last offseason. Rogers Centre was great last year! My wife and I always called it the “concrete jungle gym” because of how grey and dreary the building was, inside and out. Now, they have paint on the walls – PAINT! They have party areas for younger folk, and game areas for families. I’ll be there night two of the opening series – can’t wait!
Someone in Toronto created a dating app that fells like ‘Love is Blind’
If you’ve ever wanted to be on the show ‘Love is Blind’ without actually being on television, here’s your chance! A Toronto resident has created a new dating app that takes the concept of the show and puts it into reality. In the show, contestants sit in pods and have to use their voices to communicate with each other. If they find someone they have chemistry with, they build on that before becoming engaged and meeting in the real world for the first time. Dating app ‘Bokay’ blurs the image of users and uses slides of information to allow you to get to know them better. As you swipe through the details, the picture of the person becomes more clear. By the time you see the person, you know everything about them. The idea is to develop a connection before physical attraction ever enters the equation, just like ‘Love is Blind’! For the single people: would you try this? Let me know!
British actor has officially been offered role of James Bond
After years and years and years of seeking a replacement for Daniel Craig, we might just have our new 007. Aaron Taylor Johnson has been in the mainstream for more than a decade now, but he’s never quite reached ‘household name’ status. That might change as reports say the ‘Bullet Train’ actor has finally been offered the role of James Bond. This has been YEARS in the making. I feel like there were talks of finding a new Bond since ‘Skyfall’, and that came out in 2012. With ‘No Time to Die’ being Craig’s official exit from the series, talk about who will replace him has been rampant. Will it be Idris Elba? Will it be a Henry Cavill? Will it be a Hemsworth brother? None of them! We’ll see if Aaron Taylor Johnson will accept the role, but it sounds like he will. No timeline for the next Bond movie has been announced.
Ariana Grande’s Grandmother – Nonna, 98 – Makes History as the Senior-Most Artist to Ever Hit the Hot 100
Here’s something to keep note of for Trivia Night: Ariana Grande’s grandmother is the oldest person ever to make it into Billboard’s Hot 100. 98-year-old Nonna Grande is credited on ‘Ordinary Things’ from her granddaughter’s newest album. She passes Fred Stobaugh, who was 96 when he was credited on ‘Oh Sweet Lorraine’ by Green Shoe Studio back in 2013. Tony Bennett is third on the list, who was 85 when he teamed up with Amy Winehouse for a song in 2011. Grande’s new album debuted at 55.
Scientists have discovered the worst — and the best — time of day
When do you wake up? A study says you might be waking up at the worst time of the day. Researchers used mood, circadian clock, and other factors to determine the best and worst times of the day. They found that 5am is officially when people’s moods are at their lowest. Conversely, 5pm is when they’re at their highest! The study adds that this is independent of sleep deprivation – meaning, regardless of your sleep schedule, your body would still likely follow this pattern. So, if you hate waking up in the morning, that could be because you’re waking up too early…
No-shampoo trend growing in popularity with teen boys — despite the risks
It’s always interesting to see what the youths are up to, and according to reports, they’re not washing their hair. The latest trend has teenage boys and young men refusing to use shampoo. The reasoning behind the #NoShampoo movement is that, according to reports, shampoo:
- Has harmful chemicals
- Dries your hair out
- Makes your hair dependent
Experts say, “use shampoo!” If you stop using it altogether, you’ll cause dandruff, irritate your scalp, and could even stunt hair growth. So, if you like your hair, wash it. It’s that simple.
