Where do you get your “me time”?
According to a study, 52% of women escape the hustle and bustle of the real world through… their shower!
Most commonly escaping finances, work, and their kids, the majority of people appear to use their shower time as their getaway time.
Whether it’s daydreaming, reliving memories – or just trying to win old arguments, a hot shower is great to zone out.
Does this describe you? Have you thought of the perfect comeback yet or are you still working on that?
Let me know!

What else did we talk about this morning?
ICYMI – Want to be active? Town of Milton preparing spring programming
We’re into Month Three of 2024, and you might be struggling to get that exercise in for your New Year’s Resolution. If you’re looking to stay active, and maybe make some friends along the way, why not check out what the Town of Milton has to offer in the form of programming? Viewing for spring programming opens Tuesday – with registration launching next week. It doesn’t hurt to look, and you might find something that scratches that itch you didn’t know you had.
Daily WTF – 100 years later, long-lost Clara Bow silent film found in parking lot
People lose things on a daily basis. Car keys, TV remote, their minds – but it’s not every day that someone loses an entire FILM. Believed to be lost forever, a silent film was suddenly found in a parking lot in Omaha, Nebraska. A local filmmaker heard of an auction house having a clearance sale – EVERYTHING had to go. The man went down to this parking lot to see what they had to offer, and that’s when he saw the pile of film on a table. The whole thing went for $20, and it led to the discovery of a forgotten silent film starring one of the biggest names of the silent film era. Apparently the film is in pristine condition, but it’s in an incomplete version of the final product. The new owner says he’ll continue looking for the rest of the film, and he believes it could still be in Omaha.
Daily Did You Know – The history behind Milton’s Carr Landing and McKim Gate
Each week, we speak with Milton Historical Society President John Challinor. He dives into the stories behind local street names and how they got those names. We covered a street named after a current local politician and a former Main Street hardware store owner. We’ll have two more streets next week!
Oscar Winners 2024
The 2024 edition of the Oscars was a hit, it seems. The show quickly became the number one trending topic on social media, with pictures and posts all about the red carpet. John Cena presented an award naked on stage, which created quite the buzz online. Ryan Gosling also stole the show with his musical performance. As for the awards, Oppenheimer was the big winner. The film and its cast/crew took home seven of the 13 awards they were nominated for, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Leading Actor. Poor Things also won a handful of awards, including Emma Stone as Best Leading Actress, upsetting betting favourite Lily Gladstone. And I repeat, John Cena was naked on stage… I will not get over that.
It’s now easier than ever to get a library card in Milton
If you’re looking to get back into reading; or maybe you just want to try some new video games for free; or maybe you want to plant some seeds to start your garden; or maybe you need to borrow some appliance for a task at home; or maybe maybe maybe – I could go on and on, but ultimately, I’m trying to say that you should get a library card. The Milton Public Library has made it easier to get a library card for adults and teens, removing the need of identification for the registering process. And as my wife (the librarian) likes to say, “having fun isn’t hard when you got a library card.”
Milton youth soccer team taking trip to Italy for training camp
It’s going to be a trip of a lifetime for one of Milton’s soccer team. The Milton Magic Boys U16 team are off to Rome, Italy to take part in a training camp. The kids will be there for nearly two weeks, learning from top-level UEFA coaches. They’ll cap off the trip by attending a Serie A match. Congrats to the kids, and have fun!
Razzie Awards 2024
With the Oscars happening on Sunday, many people are talking about the BEST films of the year, but what about the worst? That’s where the Razzies come in. The 44th edition was held over the weekend, with ‘Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey’ taking Worst Picture. Jon Voight won Worst Leading Actor. Megan Fox had quite the night, as she won both Worst Leading Actress and Worst Supporting Actress for her work in ‘Johnny & Clyde’ and ‘Expend4bles’. In case you’re wondering, according to reports, none of the winners were in attendance.
Ontario rewards Milton with millions in funding for excelling in building housing
Good news! Milton did such a good job at building homes that they received an award from the provincial government. That award was in the form of money, as the Town received $8.4 million for exceeding their 2023 housing target. What will happen with that money? Good question! Milton Mayor Gord Krantz says the money will go back into infrastructure, likely to help with the increase in housing around town.
Harrison Ford listened to one of his characters’ theme songs during colonoscopy
There is not much funnier than watching how the success of Harrison Ford has made Harrison Ford frustrated and angry. The man is 81-years-old and he hates every single thing he has ever acted in. Don’t ask him about Star Wars; don’t ask him about Blade Runner; and definitely don’t ask him about Indiana Jones. It seems his doctor didn’t get that memo, as Ford says during a recent colonoscopy, they played the Indiana Jones theme song! Reports are they found a small polyp, which they replaced with a similarly-weighted bag of sand. Turns out, that didn’t trick the booby trap, causing a large boulder to chase them out of his colon. I’m kidding – none of that happened. Harrison Ford is perfectly healthy. Not happy, but he’s healthy.
Membership required: Costco is reportedly tightening food court policy
Everyone knows that you need a membership to shop at Costco, but that wasn’t necessarily true for the entire store. Historically, the food court has been open to anyone looking to eat. The reason being that it can serve as a sample for the rest of store. According to reports, Costco in the states is looking to tighten up their food court policy, and that could also be happening here in Canada sometime soon. So, if you like getting a hot dog for $1.50 without paying for the big membership fee, you might be up the creek on that one. Maybe I’ll get a Costco membership when it opens up in Milton. It’s like the local version of saying “… when pigs fly!”
