The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) has arrested and charged a car thief.
On Wednesday, January 10th, at roughly 1:00 a.m., officers received a 911 call for a high-end vehicle theft in progress in the area of Appleby Line and New Street in Burlington. Upon police arrival, two suspects were observed fleeing on foot. Police searched the area; however, the suspects managed to flee.
On Wednesday, March 6th, the HRPS executed a criminal code search warrant at a Mississauga residence where investigators seized vehicle break and enter tools, vehicle master keys, as well as a quantity of suspected fentanyl.
As a result of the investigation 22-year-old Arshmit Peter of Mississauga has been charged with the following:
- Theft of a Motor Vehicle
- Possession of Break and Enter Tools
- Possession of Vehicle Master Keys
- Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
Peter was released from police custody and is to appear in a Milton court on Wednesday, March 27th.
