
A Montreal man is facing charges following an attempted auto theft in Milton.
On Wednesday, February 21st, at roughly 3:15 a.m., Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) officers were dispatched to the area of Woodward Avenue and Thompson Road North in Milton after suspects attempted to steal a 2024 Toyota Tundra pickup truck. Several suspects fled on foot. While attempting to arrest a male in the suspect vehicle one officer was dragged for roughly 50 meters before falling to the ground, suffering minor injuries.
The driver of the suspect vehicle escaped; however, after continued investigation, a suspect who fled on foot was located and arrested in the backyard of a nearby residence.
23-year-old Takiyoudine Oumerzouk of Montreal, Quebec was arrested and has been charged with the following:
- Theft of Motor Vehicle
- Obstruct Peace Officer
- Failure to Comply with Release Order
At the time of his arrest, Takiyoudine Oumerzouk was on a release order with conditions not to leave the Province of Quebec.
Oumerzouk was held in custody pending a bail hearing in Milton.
