Milton Menace fans cheer the team on during 2019-2020 season
The Milton Menace got a big win over the Mississauga Chargers on Friday night, in more ways than one.
As the season gets set to wrap up in less than a week, the Menace welcomed in the Chargers for one final match-up this season. The Chargers have been struggling all season as they have just four wins this season, making them by far the worst team in the entire OJHL.
Would the Menace fall for the trap game?
Joseph Macchione continued his hot streaking, scoring his 8th goal just 6:29 into the opening frame. The powerplay marker was assisted by Graeme Macauley and Aidan Puley. However, Mississauga answered right back a minute later. The tie didn’t last long, as Macauley gave the Menace the lead once again. His 10th of the season was also on the powerplay and assisted by Puley and Ivan Fabjan. The Menace took a 2-1 lead into the first intermission.
Starting the second period, Jayden Levesque buried his 5th goal. It was assisted by Evan Grobanopoulos and Alessandro Petreccia. That was all for the second period, as the Menace carried a 3-1 lead into the third period.
Mississauga never got back into the game, with Madden MacDougall scoring his 22nd of the season, assisted by Petreccia and Menace Captain Connor Driscoll. Before the end of the game, Driscoll got on the board as well, with help from Macauley and Puley. Milton beat ‘Sauga 5-1.
The shots weren’t close either, as the Menace outshot the Chargers 41-14. In net for Milton was Forbes Andersen, stopping 13 of the 14 shots for a .928% save percentage.
The win gave the Menace 80 points on the regular season, setting a franchise record. They’ll have a chance to break that record again on Monday, February 26th when they head to Cobourg to battle the Cougars. Read the match-up here. Puck drop at the Cobourg Community Centre starts at 7:00 p.m.
Residents can watch the Menace at home next on Wednesday, February 28th. They take on the Oakville Blades at the Milton Memorial Arena. Game-time is set for 1:00 p.m. Menace home tickets for this OJHL season can be found here.
