
Milton Menace fans cheer the team on during 2019-2020 season
The Milton Menace were able to rebound from a two-game slide on Sunday.
Heading into the weekend, the Menace were reeling off a 3-2 late loss to the Georgetown Raiders. They headed to Burlington on Friday, February 9th to take on the Cougars.
It was the Cougars who first got on the board, taking a 1-0 lead 8 minutes into the game. Ivan Fabjan was able to tie the game on the powerplay, scoring his 17th goal of the season with help from Joseph Macchione and Owen Kindree. It was 1-1 after one period.
In the second frame, Burlington was able to take back the lead on the powerplay. A few minutes later, the Menace also buried the puck on the man advantage. Macchione got the goal, with help from Nicholas Wereha and captain Connor Driscoll. Before the end of the period, the Cougars managed to score again. It was 3-2 Burlington heading into the third period.
Early in the third, Burlington scored again on the powerplay. That goal sealed the deal, as Fabjan’s second of the game wasn’t enough to get the Menace back in it. The Cougars beat the Menace 4-3.
In net for Milton was Forbes Andersen. He stopped 32 of 36 shots, giving him an .888% save percentage.
After Friday’s game, the Menace were suddenly on a two game losing streak.
They came home for the first time in weeks, with a game against the struggling Niagara Falls.
The Super Bowl Sunday afternoon game started strong for the Menace. Evan Grobanopoulos scored his 2nd of the season, with help from Joseph Macchione and captain Connor Driscoll. Shortly after, Driscoll got one of his own. His 23rd of the season was assisted by Macchione and Graeme Macauley. It was 2-0 Menace after one period.
In the second period, the Menace ran away with it. Ashtyn Pacheco scored his 6th of the season, assisted by Nicholas Wereha and Owen Kindree. A minute later, Aidan Puley potted his 24th, assisted by Macchione and Madden MacDougall. Before the end of the period, MacDougall himself got on the board. His 21st was assisted by Macchione and Marcus Tryfon. What a weekend for Macchione. The Canucks would get one back to make it 5-1 Menace after 40-minutes of action.
The Menace were able to hold off the Canucks in the final frame, with Sett Ursomarzo scoring his 15th of the season, assisted by Justin O’Donnell and Gavin Sheehan. Niagara Falls were score again, but that was all. The Menace beat the Canucks 6-2.
Milton put Glen Crandall in net for Sunday’s game. He stopped 26 of 28 shots, giving him a .928% save percentage.
Next up for the Menace is the Oakville Blades. They head to the Sixteen Mile Arena on Tuesday, February 13th. Puck-drop is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
The Menace return home on Friday, February 16th for a tough match-up against the Collingwood Blues. Game-time is listed for 7:30 p.m. at the Milton Memorial Arena. Milton Menace home tickets for this OJHL season can be found here.
