Are you calling in sick this morning?
The Monday after the Super Bowl is one of the biggest sick days. An HR firm found that roughly 16 million Americans expect to call in sick this morning.
That’s roughly 10% of the working population for the country!
With the game going to overtime, you might have stayed up later than you expected. How are you feeling this morning? Did you get the Super Bowl Flu?
Let me know!

ICYMI – Milton is getting close to two-way, all-day GO service
Reports now have two-way, all day GO service coming to Milton by 2031! That’s huge. This comes after the provincial government announced their plans to provide the service. They just want the federal government to take on the funding with them. This upgrade in service will also come with an upgrade for the GO Station, which is exciting news.
Daily WTF – Mount Everest climbers will need to bring poo back to base camp
It seems Mount Everest is getting quite the smell. As people swarm to conquer the world’s tallest mountain, many find themselves in need of relief while trekking through the snow. The standard protocol seems to have been that you pop a squat roughly where you are and you keep moving. Sherpas on the mountain say the excrement doesn’t degrade due to how cold Everest is, and therefore, the build-up has now become visible. People have even become sick on the mountain, seemingly due to the smell. Clean-up campaigns have gone on in the past, but the Nepali Army can only clean-up so much human feces before measures are taken. Now, if you want to reach the top of the world, you’ll need to bring a poop bag with you. It’s like walking the dog… if you were the dog. Have fun!
Daily Did You Know – The history behind Milton’s Bowell Crescent and Grey Landing
We have two streets this week! One covers a Prime Minister and longtime politician at the federal level, and the other covers Earl Grey. Not THAT Earl Grey, but kind of that Earl Grey. He was also the namesake for a certain football championship! We’ll have two more local streets next week.
Super Bowl Talk!
Super Bowl 58 was held on Sunday night and it was a blast! Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs won their third championship in five years. Taylor Swift was on the field to celebrate the win with her boyfriend, Travis Kelce. Everyone is talking about the Halftime Show with Usher. Reviews are very good! In my opinion, one of the better ones, and definitely a lot better than the last time he appeared during the Halftime Show with the Black Eyed Peas and Slash.
Japan’s Digital Nomad Visa Is Launching In March
If you work remotely, and you make at least $68,200 annually, you can move to Japan! It’s the dream of every remote worker: travel the world with your laptop! The country says their Digital Nomad Visa will be available starting next month. This provides people from 49 countries with the ability to live in Japan for six-months at a time. Other countries who have this kind of Visa are Canada, Mexico, South Korea, Spain, and several more. That means if you work for a company that only cares about you getting your work done, you can travel the world for a significant chunk of time at a time. Sounds fun!
Film Academy Announces New Oscar for Achievement in Casting
If you’ve ever watched a film and thought “this is a really good cast,” or “wow, they did a great job picking the actors for this movie,” then good news: the Academy Awards will be recognizing the people who put those casts together! An Oscar will soon be given to casting directors. It’s hard to envision something before it’s built, and the right cast can propel a film to a whole new level. The award will first be handed out in 2026.
Adele Jokes Jason Kelce Sounds ‘Drunk’ and Like a ‘Football Fan’ During Funny Interaction at Her Show
A lot of attention has been on the Kelce brothers as of late. With Travis Kelce now dating Taylor Swift, Jason Kelce has found himself to be the centre of attention a lot of times, especially after a popular documentary on him was released. The Sexiest Man Alive finalist was in Las Vegas to watch his brother compete in the Super Bowl. While there, he also took in the festivities, including attending an Adele concert. The singer was doing some crowd work, and she asked the crowd who they wanted to win the Super Bowl. Many people yelled out “Chiefs” or “Niners” at the singer, but not Jason. The Philadelphia Eagles Center thought it’d be funny to support his team, yelling out “Eagles!” This surprised Adele, who quickly joked that Kelce sounded drunk. The big man laughed it off, and the internet has had some fun with it. Good news: Travis Kelce won the Super Bowl last night. Bad news: Jason Kelce is likely retiring. End of an era!
Ben Affleck, Matt Damon and Tom Brady Form a Boy Band in Dunkin’s Super Bowl Commercial
The Super Bowl has become three separate events. There’s the game itself; there’s the Halftime Show; and then there’s the commercials. Canadians don’t quite get all the good commercials that the Americans get, but one that has gone viral and seemingly stolen the show, sees Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, and Tom Brady form a boy band in the name of Dunkin’ Donuts. The ‘Dunkings‘ aimed to get on Jennifer Lopez’s next album, but they actually ended up embarrassing J-Lo instead. At least they’re getting a donut named after them… that’s a positive!
Cher, Mariah Carey, Lenny Kravitz, Ozzy Osbourne and Sinéad O’Connor among Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 2024 nominees

Blige, Ozzy Osbourne and Mariah Carey. Other nominees include Oasis and A Tribe Called Quest. The rest of the list is expected to be announced in April. They’ll all be inducted in Cleveland this fall.
