Milton Memorial Arena, 2019
All good streaks come to an end eventually.
The Milton Menace went into the Mold Masters Sportsplex on Wednesday, February 7th to take on the Georgetown Raiders. This was the fourth match-up for the 2023-2024 OJHL regular season between the two North Halton teams, and heading into the game, the Menace were undefeated in the series.
It was the Raiders who scored first, netting a powerplay goal somewhat late in the first period. Georgetown would take that 1-0 lead into the first intermission.
In the second period, Georgetown managed to get another special teams goal, this time shorthanded. It was 2-0 and neither of the goals had been even-strength. A minute later, the Menace would get one back. Joseph Macchione buried his 5th of the year, assisted by Marcus Tryfon and Alexander Siletsky. Milton would tie it up at the 13:41 mark in the second frame, with Ivan Fabjan scoring his 16th of the season, with help from Alessandro Petreccia and Aidan Puley. It was tied 2-2 after 40-minutes of action.
The final period was a tight one, but it was the Raiders who scored the go-ahead goal late. Georgetown would be Milton 3-2.
In net for the loss was Glen Crandall, who had scored a goalie goal the last time these two teams played. He stopped 21 of 24 shots, giving him an .875% save percentage.
The road trip for the Menace continues this week. They’ll head south for another cross-region match-up. Milton faces the Burlington Cougars on Friday, February 9th. Puck drop at the Central Arena is slated for 7:30 p.m.
The Menace return home on Sunday, February 11th when they play the Niagara Falls Canucks. With it being the day of the Super Bowl, game-time is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Milton Menace home tickets for this OJHL season can be found here.
