Do you have a purpose in life?
Having a sense of purpose can impact every single aspect of your life, a study says. People who focus on personal growth and success can find themselves excelling in everything – from their relationships to their sleep patterns.
The study says that if you understand who you are and who you want to be, you’ll be more confident and outgoing. That behaviour decreases stress and anxiety, and in turn, can improve how others see you as well.
People with clear goals rated very highly on dating apps! People also matched often with others who shared a similar purpose. Creative people matched with other creatives, and financially focused people matched with other moneymakers.
Do you have a purpose – or are you still trying to get through this thing called life?

Daily WTF – Opossum ‘porch pirate’ steals box of 15-year-old’s birthday cookies, video shows
If your packages are disappearing after they’re delivered, that means you could be dealing with a porch pirate. What is a porch pirate? It’s someone who sails through the urban streets, looking for “treasure” on people’s doorsteps. For one family in Texas, their porch pirate was not human… It was an opossum! They had ordered cookies for their daughter’s 15th birthday party, and those cookies disappeared after they were reportedly delivered. Security footage of the doorstep showed the little marsupial waddling up and snagging the box of baked goods. Police say there’s nothing that can be done about the little thief, but they recommend that other residents take measures to protect their porch from opossums and other animals… Which, I don’t know, seems like a very Texas thing to say. Groundhog Day results – Is it an early spring?
Wiarton Willie has spoken! South Bruce Mayor Jay Kirkland put on his chain that allows him to speak fluent ‘Groundhogese’. He got down – heard what Willie had to say. He went back – spoke with his Groundhog Council, and then announced that Warton Willie is calling for an EARLY SPRING! Thing is – Willie isn’t alone. Over in Nova Scotia, Shubenacadie Sam did not see her shadow this morning, meaning the east coast is also expecting an early spring. Same goes for the most famous woodchuck, Punxsutawney Phil. An early Spring! It’s hard to argue when you look outside. You see the sun, and the snow is just about all melted. Spring might be starting early… AND THAT’S MOST DEFINITELY A GOOD THING! Halton Region looking for feedback on proposed Norval Bypass
The Halton Region is looking to build what they’re calling ‘The Norval Bypass’. It sounds incredibly fancy, but it looks like it’d just be a clearer route to connect traffic from Guelph Street/Highway 7 in Halton Hills to Steeles Avenue in Milton/Mississauga/Brampton. The Region wants feedback on the designed project, which you can provide through a survey online. Deadline is Wednesday, February 28th. Read more here…
Larry David forced to apologize for attacking Elmo on ‘Today’ show
There seems to be some beef between Larry David and Elmo. The ‘Seinfeld’ creator, and star of ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’, was on ‘The Today Show’ this week to discuss the final season of Curb when he was briefly joined by Sesame Street‘s little furry friend, Elmo. David didn’t give Elmo any time to talk as he just started throwing haymakers at Elmo. It was like Muhammad Ali vs. Joe Frazier for the ‘Thrilla in Manila’. David then had to come back on the show and issue an apology. It really makes you think, you know, we don’t know what goes on in these stars lives! Maybe Elmo held back David’s career. Elmo’s been in showbiz for almost 45 years, he could have immense pull behind the scenes. Maybe David holds a grudge for that after all these years. We just don’t know! Read more here…
Billy Joel Returns With “Turn the Lights Back On,” First New Song in 17 Years
It’s finally here! The Piano Man has released his first new song in 17 years. Just like The Rolling Stones, Billy Joel has proven that you don’t quite lose talent over the years. I mean, he’s had a residency at Madison Square Garden for the last ten years, it’s not like he hasn’t been on his game as of late. ‘Turn the Lights Back On’ is exactly what you expect from Billy Joel, and that’s a good thing. Give it a listen!
Bad gas leaves Guelph drivers fuming
I don’t know a single person who enjoys the experience of getting gas for their car. Especially in the winter. You’re paying a lot of money to stand in the cold so that you can rumble and bumble your car on over to work and the grocery store and the in-laws, etc. Now, imagine if that gas you’re feeding your car suddenly and inexplicably POISONED it. That’s what happened to the Guelph residents who stopped by the Mobil gas station on Woolwich Street. The gas last Friday was reportedly contaminated, and many people are now dealing with repairs of up to $800. People say their cars were shaking and sputtering after filling up their tanks. The plan is to form a class action lawsuit against the gas station and its parent company. We’ll see how that eventually ends up going. But hey, the next time you fill up the tank, just be happy the gas isn’t contaminated… UNTIL IT IS!… Read more here…
