A Georgetown man has been arrested in a human trafficking investigation.
In January 2024, Peel Regional Police Service officers began an investigation relating to victims involved in the sex trade.
It is alleged that the accused recruited and exploited victims into the sex trade and took their earnings. Vice investigators conducted an investigation, which they say resulted in locating victims being trafficked by the accused.
32-year-old Viktor Semchyk is charged with the following criminal offences:
- Human Trafficking
- Exercise Control
- Receiving Benefits Resulting from Trafficking in Persons
- Procuring
- Derive Material Benefit from Sexual Services
- Advertisement
He was held for a bail hearing and appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice.
