If you’re a horror fan, you’re most likely an extrovert!
A study looking into the psyche of slasher fanatics found some interesting correlations. If you like spooky films, you’re also more likely to sleep naked and be a night owl.
The opposite is true, adding that pajama sleepers tend to be early birds who are introverted and enjoy mystery movies.
Which side are you on – Team Horror or Team Mystery? Hey, maybe the study isn’t quite accurate and you lie somewhere in the middle… Let me know!

What else did we talk about this morning?
ICYMI – Milton residents can now enjoy an outdoor rink at this local park
A lot of people have complained the last few months that there was nowhere in Milton to skate outdoors. Those same people weren’t acknowledging the fact that it was 12 degrees in the middle of December. After the most recent cold snap, the Town of Milton announced that Laurier Park has an outdoor rink, being run through the neighbourhood outdoor rink program. That means it’s entirely volunteer run, and therefore, needs your help. All you need to do is be respectful when using it and follow any guidelines that are posted. Hopefully we can hover around zero long enough to keep the rink frozen! Read more here…
Daily WTF – Mysterious bass sound in South Tampa resurfaces, residents raise money to investigate noise
Residents in South Tampa have been hearing a weird sound for years, but no one had an answer. It was deep and ominous with rhythm. WHAT COULD IT BE? We have an answer. After money was raised to investigate, it turns out the bass sound was coming from the famous Tampa Bay. A scientist says it’s fish, and not just any fish, but Black drum fish. It’s mating season for these guys, and they were putting some RESPECT on the drum fish name. More work and fundraising are being done in the investigation to confirm that yes, everyone is just forced to listen to a bunch fish make babies… but it’s all in the name of SCIENCE. And this is the kind of science that EVERYONE can appreciate. Read more here…
Solar eclipse leads to rescheduling of upcoming PA Day
Your kids will now be staying home on April 8th instead of April 22nd. Why, you ask? Because a solar eclipse will be on the 8th, and both the HDSB and HCDSB agree that it’s probably not a good idea to have thousands of students across the region being bussed home while the moon blocks out the sun. Not necessarily the safest thing in the world. There are traffic concerns, with people appreciating the natural phenomenon instead of keeping eyes on the road. There’s also the whole thing of TURNING BLIND BY LOOKING AT IT… Yeah. So, your children will be at home during the eclipse. If you want their eyes to be safe when they look at the eclipse, buy them the goggles/glasses. Take the day off work or work from home and experience it together! Should be fun. Read more here…
Daily Did You Know – Milton receiving $22 million to fast track housing projects
Surprise, surprise – Milton will be getting more homes. Okay, that’s not really a surprise. BUT, Milton is getting funding from the feds to fast track local housing projects. This will lead to more than 800 housing units being built around the town within the next three years. We’re also the first TOWN in the country to receive this kind of funding. Every other municipality to get the HAF has been a city, including Burlington. Milton is expected to grow A LOT over the next 30 or so years thanks to a growth mandate handed down by the provincial government, and this kind of funding really speeds up the process. The faster the population climbs, the faster we can get better infrastructure. You know what that means? MORE ROAD CONSTRUCTION! It’s only January and I can already feel the frustration of THOUSANDS for this upcoming summer. Read more here...
Billy Joel Unveils First New Single In Decades
A lot of older musicians are starting to retire from touring, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t recording. One guy who hasn’t quite given up the performing lifestyle is Billy Joel. The man is coming off a ten-year residency at MADISON SQUARE GARDEN of all places. For the first time in decades, Joel has released new music. Titled ‘Turn The Lights Back On’, it’s expected to be released on February 1st. It’ll be released on all platforms digitally, as well as with a limited edition vinyl version. Can’t wait! Stanley cup collector, 16, says her parents have spent $3,000 to get her every style tumbler
When I was a kid, I too was obsessed with Stanley Cups. Only, it was the tall, silver one named after Lord Stanley and presented to the winner of the NHL Playoffs. These days, there’s a new Stanley Cup that is all the craze. One 16-year-old girl from Alabama is in the news because she owns EVERY STANLEY CUP TUMBLER EVER PRODUCED. Her parents reportedly spent about $3000 to help fuel her obsession. She got the first one a year ago, and she now has 67. As a Leafs fan, all I can think of is “of course there are 67 Stanley Cups.” Do you own one of these? Are they better than a Yeti Mug? Let me know! Read more here…
Ted Lasso Season 4: Will It Happen? Everything We Know
One of the greatest TV shows of the COVID-era was Ted Lasso. The show reportedly wrapped up with its latest season – season three – and original reports were that THIS WAS ALL. The show even finished with a nice bow, and made a lot of people cry happy tears. That said, it’s hard to believe that Apple wouldn’t want to milk this cash cow for all that it has. Rumours of a season four have popped back up, and reports say it’s not as crazy as you’d think. Executives attached to the show continue to say that if the right story were to come around, they’ll do it. So, while nothing official is being worked on, it hasn’t been entirely shelved yet. As long as you BELIEVE, anything can happen. Read more here…
Gamer dog makes history by being first canine to rush through a video game at annual charity event, nearly breaks world record
It might sound silly when I admit that my New Year’s Resolution (on top of helping my friend get back into running) was to play more video games. Not just any video game, but non-sports video games. My goal is to reestablish my childhood hobby and not just use Madden or EANHL to zone out for a few hours a day (I know – the life of a childless man). Apparently, I should be trying to get my DOG to play video games with me. A shiba inu named Peanut Butter is in the news after it nearly broke a world record at a charity event. The dog has become famous for playing video games online, and recently, it played the game ‘Gyromite’ in front of a live audience. It beat the game in just 26 minutes and 24 seconds, two minutes shy of the world record. Here I was trying to teach my bulldog to sit, when he should have been gaming the whole time. Time to practice! Read more here…
$10K digital detox? Yogurt company introduces a different ‘Dry January’
When you hear ‘Dry January’, you likely think of no alcohol for a month. For Siggi’s Dairy, they’re hoping people go analog for a whole month. They launched a ‘Digital Detox’ campaign, and are offering ten people $10,000 each to give up their phone. The average time spent on phones is expected to climb to four hours and 39 minutes this year, if not higher. Also through the challenge, the participants will get a smartphone lockbox, a flip phone, a one-month prepaid sim card and 60 cups of yogurt. The contest closes at the end of the month. These once-popular baby names may be going extinct in 2024
You might think a name is very popular because every other kid in school seems to have it, but proof of popularity for baby names comes down to one obvious question: “What are babies currently being named?” Like I said, it’s obvious, but we forget that babies aren’t being named Tyler and Courtney like it’s 1996 anymore. A look into modern baby names found that certain recent trends are actually heading downward. Those include any ‘Aidan’ names, such as Aidan, Jaden, Braden, Hayden, etc. Also on the outs are ‘last names as first names’. Think Hunter, Campbell, Reagan, Sawyer, etc. Millennial girl names have also dropped in popularity, which means less babies are going by Amanda, Brooke, and Michelle, among others. It seems the most popular names of yesteryear are potentially going extinct. But as always, what’s old is new, and these “extinct” names will eventually become popular again. Read more here…
