Kelly Clarkson has taken a stand against social media… for her kids!
The singer/talk show host says that as long as her kids live under her roof, she’s not allowing them to have social media.
She cites negative effects on kids, particularly with famous parents, as her reason.
Where do you stand? Are you anti-social media for children?
I get where she’s coming from, but it does seem like a near-impossible task to enforce. That said, I am jealous of people without any social media.
What a life that would be!

ICYMI – The history behind the ‘Quality Greens Place’ sign in Downtown Milton
We had a timing conflict when it came to recording a new Street Name History segment, so here’s my favourite edition that we’ve ever done. It’s a twist on the segment, but it’s a question I had for John that was fun to get answered. Read more here…
Dailly WTF – Try not to let moose lick your car
There are all kinds of warnings when it comes to animals, especially what you’re supposed to do when you come across one in your car. If you’re bold enough to drive anywhere near a moose, Parks Canada is suggesting you slowly maneuver around them, and make sure they don’t lick your car. Why is that? Because they’re deprived of salt, and they like the salt that’s all over your car in the winter. Allowing a moose to lick your car might lead them to having a dependency on licking cars (yes, actually) and you can imagine how dangerous that is for everyone involved, moose included. So, the next time you come across a gosh darn moose while driving, 1) try not to soil yourself, and 2) avoid the tongue. Read more here…
Daily Did You Know – Popular bar in Milton closing down this month
This is a sad story. Rad Brothers has been a mainstay in Milton for more than a decade. It’ll close its doors at the end of the month with a live performance. Talk of the town is that a condo building is going up in that plaza, so we’ll see how that goes. There’s already another condo that’s just about done across the street, so another one makes sense. Enjoy ‘Rads’ while you can, and hopefully we see the Rad Bros open another restaurant/bar in Milton soon. Read more here…
A storm is coming!
By the time you’re reading this, it’s probably already snowing and/or raining. Environment Canada issued a warning for Milton residents. 5-10cm of snow expected on Tuesday, but with rising temperatures, that could shift to rain at some point today. Nice and simple: be smart and drive safe! Read more here…
Mouse filmed tidying up man’s shed every night
Finding the right tenant can be a pain for landlords. Who would have thought the perfect tenant for a shed would be a mouse! Retired Welsh postman Rodney Holbrook noticed some strange happenings in his shed, and so he decided to set up a camera and investigate. Turns out, he had a mouse. And not just any mouse, but a very TIDY mouse. The little fella has been cleaning up messes around the shed, and the video has since gone viral. It sounds like Holbrook will keep the little guy around, and even gives him tasks. “I think he would tidy my wife away if I left her in there,” he says. Here’s hoping he doesn’t hike up the rent or that mouse is moving! Read more here…
Here’s where Canada ranks among the most expensive countries to retire in
If it feels like Canada is expensive compared to other countries, that’s because it is. And it’s expensive for everybody, including retirees. As much as younger generations are giving Baby Boomers flak for 1) buying real estate dirt cheap and selling it for sky high prices, and 2) telling younger generations to work harder when they already are – it’s not like they’re immune to the high cost of living in this country. A new study says that Canada is actually the 6th most expensive country to retire in. The study is also for people not paying rent, so if you’re in that boat as well, it’s even worse for you. South Korea was at the bottom of the Top 20, so if you’re a boomer who loves K-Pop, have fun retiring in South Korea! Read more here…
What Is a Money Date?
Here’s a term you might have never heard of: Money Date. What is it? An expert says a money date is a valuable experience that everyone should do from time to time. If your resolution this year revolves around spending/saving, you might want to schedule a money date with yourself. A nice (cheap) glass of wine, make a nice (cheap) dinner for yourself, and do a lot of financial introspection. SPICY! Read more here…

Mark Cuban tells Dallas Mavericks employees he’ll distribute $35M in bonuses
How much do you wish your boss was Mark Cuban right now? The Mavs (now minority) owner and Shark Tank judge told his employees in the organization that he will be handing out bonuses. BIG bonuses. They will vary in size depending on how long you have been with the company. Granted, this comes after he sold a large stake in the team for billions, so $35 million is probably not a lot for the man, but it’s a lot for those employees… and that’s rad as heck. Read more here…
