How are your New Year’s Resolutions going?
A survey by Forbes Magazine in December found the average resolution lasts 3.74 months. Of those who responded, 8% last just one month; 22% last two months, another 22% last three months; and, 13% make it to four.
Personally, my friend wanted to get back into running after giving birth, but was self conscious about running alone. So, we started a makeshift run group to get her going. It’s myself, my wife, and our two friends (the new parents). We’re running 1k a day with her until she can do 2k, and then 3k and so on and so forth. We all have our opinions on when those milestones will happen, but the goal is to be able to do a 5k before the end of the year. As of this morning, we’re three runs in!
How about you? If you’re doing a resolution this year – how’s it going? Is the gym treating you okay? Are you enjoying reading more? Have you taken more “Me Time” so far this week/year?
Let me know!

ICYMI: Masks will now be required again inside select Milton Hospital units
Talk about a flash from the past! Halton Healthcare has announced an update to their guidelines regarding masking in select units in all three of their hospitals. Read more here…
Daily WTF: 13-year-old may be 1st person to ‘beat’ Tetris
Did you ever play Tetris on the original Nintendo Entertainment System? Well, turns out, you never beat the game! A teenage boy from Oklahoma has done what no human has reportedly ever done. When I was 13, I was watching Superbad for the 30th time… Yeah, I know… Equally as impressive, right? Read more here…
Daily Did You Know: Meet Milton’s first baby of 2024
Baby Lee was Milton’s first baby of 2024, weighing in at a healthy nine pounds and nine ounces. That’s a good sized baby! Halton Healthcare also thanked all the staff at the Milton District Hospital for working hard over the holiday season. Maybe it’s all of the medical dramas I’ve watched in my life, but I sure hope they had a nice Christmas moment in the breakroom or something. Read more here…
Nope, winter has not been cancelled…
Despite getting snow on New Year’s, it does seem like winter has been put on hold so far this season. Most years of late, we usually get a good dumping of snow by Christmas morning, but that wasn’t the case. At the time of writing this, Glen Eden in Milton hasn’t opened yet. But is winter cancelled? According to The Weather Network, “NOPE!” Read more here…
Jack Black is voicing the Minecraft guy
Here’s something you can talk about with your kid. Minecraft is one of those games that has seemingly outlasted life itself. It was popular when I was in high school, and surprisingly enough, I’m turning 30 this year. Minecraft, GTA 5, even WoW, these games have lasted way longer than expected with very minimal updates when compared to other games. Enter Jack Black, who has been a mainstay in kids movies over the last decade or two, and you have what could be a huge movie when it comes out. And I’m sure Chris Pratt is punching the air right now that he didn’t get this role (See: GOTG, Jurassic Park, LEGO movie, Super Mario, Garfield, etc.) Read more here…
This superhero’s fictional home exists in real life — and it can be yours for $5.9M
You mean I get to talk about comic books AND complain about the real estate market? It seems in the early days of Superman comics, Clark Kent lived on the fifth floor of the Standish Arms Apartments in Brooklyn Heights. I guess this was before Metropolis was created (and fun fact: modelled after Toronto). It is a beautiful condo, I’ll give it that. I know New York is a very expensive place to live, but there’s something heart wrenching seeing $5.9 million attached to a condo unit. If you bought it though, you’d be neighbours with Matt Damon and John Krasinski! You’re telling me a fictional low-level REPORTER lived here? Not on today’s salary, that’s for sure. Read more here…
The Weeknd Sets First Lead Role in Film He Co-Wrote and Produced, Opposite Jenna Ortega and Barry Keoghan
We’re about to see how far being one of the biggest names in music gets you in Hollywood. The Weeknd hasn’t really had the best start to his acting career. His HBO show was critically panned, and the behind-the-scenes drama definitely affected his image last year. Justin Timberlake was able to outlast criticism to have himself a solid acting career (ignoring the recent Britney stuff); Prince had a small acting career back in the day; and, Elvis made a bunch of bad movies (or so I’m told). We’ll see how The Weeknd does in this movie. At least it’s a good cast! Read more here…
Snoop Dogg Will Report for NBC During the 2024 Paris Olympics
There’s something strangely wholesome about Snoop Dogg being a hit at the Olympics. It’s fun listening to someone with no Olympic experience and lots of personality be amazed at what the world’s greatest athletes are doing. Why stop at Snoop Dogg? Let’s get Seth Rogen in there again, and let’s throw in Cheech and Chong as well. A nice round table, a la That 70’s Show. Must watch TV, right there. Read more here…
‘Buddymoons’ are the trendy way newlyweds are celebrating their love with friends
What exactly is a ‘buddymoon’? It seems with young couples now living together long before ever getting married, there’s less need for the traditional honeymoon. Throw in the unbearable cost of everything, and you might be more willing to Netflix and Chill after your wedding than go to some tropical island (side note: I only recently learned where Tahiti is… how did people ever discover it???) SO, what do you do? You bring your friends into the equation. You go on a trip with your closest friends, whether it be to a Margaritaville resort or backpacking through some European country. With friends by your side, you can do anything… like splitting all bills! ANYTHING, I said! Read more here…
