The Milton Menace had a pretty good weekend!
Things started out with what will be the final home game of 2023 for the Menace. They welcomed in the Toronto Jr. Canadiens on Friday, December 15th. It was their first match-up of the OJHL season.
It took more than 14 minutes to get a goal in Friday night’s game. It was Aidan Puley who got the Menace on the board. He got help from Graeme Macauley and Ivan Fabjan. Just a few minutes later, Fabjan got a goal of his own, assisted by Puley and Captain Connor Driscoll. The powerplay goal was Fabjan’s 11th of the season. Milton led Toronto 2-0 after 20 minutes of play.
In the second period, Puley tallied his second of the game and 14th of the season. It was assisted by Johnathon Mead and Macauley. The Jr. Canadiens would get one back, but that’d be it for the second frame. It was 3-1 heading into the second intermission.
Toronto then made it a one goal game in the third period, but it was Madden MacDougall with his 12th of the season that buried the game. His goal was assisted by Driscoll and Owen Kindree. Milton beat Toronto 4-2.
In net for the Menace was Glen Crandall. He had a busy night, stopping 31 of 33 shots, giving him a .939% save percentage.
The next night, the Menace went into Mississauga to challenge the Chargers.
‘Sauga opened the scoring in the first period, taking a 1-0 lead into the first intermission.
The Menace were able to answer the bell in the second period, with Sett Ursomarzo potting his 12th of the year, with help from Joseph Macchione and Johnathon Mead. Just a few minutes later, Gavin Sheehan would score his 6th of the season. Ursomarzo and Ashtyn Pacheco got the apples. Milton took the 2-1 into the final frame.
The first half of the third period was scoreless for both teams, but then things picked up. Alexander Siletsky gave the Menace a two goal lead, with help from Tristan Tremble and Sheehan. Less than a minute later, Mississauga brought things back within one on a penalty shot. That was almost immediately answered by Connor Driscoll, with assists from Owen Kindree and Marcus Tryfon. Then, it was Travis Houle with his first of the year. Driscoll and Siletsky were credited with the assists. A Chargers goal wouldn’t change things, as Milton won 5-3 over Mississauga.
Milton gave Crandall the night off on Saturday, putting Ariel Zaslaver in net. He stopped 23 of 26 shots, giving him an .884% save percentage.
The Menace have just two games left in 2023, both on the road. They’ll take on the Buffalo Jr. Sabres in Buffalo on Wednesday, December 20th. They then come back over the border and stop in Niagara Falls to play the Canucks on Friday, December 22nd.
For fans looking to see some local hockey, the next home game will be on Friday, January 5th. The Menace welcome in the Buffalo Jr. Sabres to the Milton Memorial Arena. Puck-drop is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Milton Menace home tickets for this OJHL season can be found here.
