Milton Menace Prospect Camp, 2020
The Milton Menace broken even this past weekend.
It was a cross-region rivalry game on Friday, November 24th as the Menace took on the Georgetown Raiders at the Madhouse.
Not the best start for the boys in black and grey, as the Raiders jumped out to a 3-0 lead, led by Carson Lloyd. The Menace held strong though, and kept goaltender Glen Crandall in net.
The second period was all Milton. Joseph Macchione was the first on the board. His second of the year was assisted by Captain Connor Driscoll and Evan Grobanopoulos. That was quickly followed by a goal from Alexander Siletsky, his sixth year of the year. Ashtyn Pacheco and Jayden Levesque got the apples. At the halfway mark of the game, Justin O’Donnell tied things up with 10th of the year, with help from Tristan Tremble and Markus Hicks. O’Donnell then took the lead, with his 11th of the season and second of the game – this time on the man advantage. Driscoll and Owen Kindree were credited with assists. The powerplay success continued with Macchione finding twine once again. Ivan Fabjan and Isaac Barrett both helped cap off the five goal period. It was 5-3 Milton after 40-minutes.
Georgetown answered back to start the third period, with Lloyd completing his hattrick. The Menace answered with Macchione getting a ‘hatty’ of his own. Driscoll and Travis Houle with the assists. Late in the game, Aidan Puley buried his 10th of the year, an empty netter, as the Menace sealed away the Raiders for another night. Grobanopoulos and Isaac Barrett got the final assists. Milton won 7-4.
Crandall stood strong in net after a shaky first period. He stopped 29 of 33 shots, giving him an .878% save percentage.
Fun fact: 14 different Menace players registered a point on Friday.
The attention then shifted towards Sunday, November 26th as the Menace stayed at home to welcome in the Stouffville Spirit.
Much like Friday, the Menace were beaten to the first goal. The Spirit scored the lone opening frame goal, and led 1-0 after 20-minutes.
In the second period, Madden MacDougall was able to net his 11th of the year with help from Isaac Barrett and Alexander Siletsky. The tying goal made the game 1-1 heading into the second intermission.
A quick goal from the Spirit in the third period made things challenging, and a sure-to-be dagger at the 14-minute mark made the mountain a tougher climb. Ivan Fabjan was able to pull things within one with a late-goal, his 10th of the year, assisted by Owen Kindree. But that was all, and the Spirit held on to a 3-2 win over the Menace.
Glen Crandall was in net once again, proving himself as the starting goaltender for the Milton Menace. In the losing effort, he stopped 34 of 37 shots, giving him a .918% save percentage.
The Milton Menace will have the work week off before they take on the Burlington Cougars on the road. Game-time on Friday, December 1st is set for 7:30 p.m. at the Burlington Central Arena.
They return home on Sunday, December 3rd to face the juggernaut Collingwood Blues. Menace home tickets for this OJHL season can be found here.
