The Halton Region is looking to upgrade three major roads, and they want your opinion.
They are carrying out a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (MCEA) Study to help make a decision on how best to improve three local roads. These improvements include roadway widening, cross-sectional requirements, active transportation, transit supportive infrastructure, intersection improvements and overall traffic operations.
The three roads getting the upgrades are:
- James Snow Parkway (Regional Road 4) from Britannia Road (Regional Road 6) to Highway 401;
- Steeles Avenue (Regional Road 8) from Regional Road 25 to Trafalgar Road (Regional Road 3); and
- Regional Road 25 from 5 Side Road to 10 Side Road.
The study is being carried out in accordance with Schedule C of the MCEA, (October 2000, as amended 2007, 2011, 2015 and 2023), which is an approved process under the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act.
This isn’t a first for the Region, with the last occurrence happening just a few weeks ago.
A key component of the study is consultation with interested parties (public and review agencies) through Public Information Centres (PIC). The purpose of the first PIC is to review and gather feedback on the study area needs and opportunities, background information, selection of the preferred solution, and next steps in the study.
Anyone with an interest in this study is asked to participate virtually. You can click here to view pre-recorded videos about the study, provide input through an online survey and learn more. The online PIC will be available from Thursday, November 23rd to Thursday, December 21st.
