The Milton Menace crossed the border and got a big overtime win!
On Wednesday, November 8th, the Menace drove down to Buffalo to take on the Jr. Sabres. The Menace beat the Sabres 4-2 at home back in October, and they had played in Buffalo during the 2023 OJHL Governors Showcase, but this was the first meeting between the two teams in the US.
It started off immediately negative for Milton, with Buffalo scoring in 11 seconds into the game. Just over a minute later, it was a two goal game. Graeme Macauley was able to score on the powerplay, his fourth of the season, assisted by Sett Ursomarzo and Owen Kindree. Milton then tied the game with a goal by Justin O’Donnell, his eighth of the year. Ursomarzo got another assist alongside Aidan Puley. Buffalo would find twine again to make it 3-2 Sabres after one period.
Gavin Sheehan tied the game in the second period with his fifth of the year, assisted by Jayden Levesque. Buffalo then scored on the powerplay to retake the lead, but Milton answered again with a goal from Ursomarzo. His eighth of the year was assisted by Tristan Tremble. It was tied 4-4 after 40 minutes of play.
Halfway through the third period, Buffalo would take the lead. It was their fourth lead of the game, and Milton would take it away once again. 14 minutes into the final frame, Captain Connor Driscoll potted his 11th of the season. It was assisted by Ivan Fabjan and Justin O’Donnell. That goal would send the game to overtime, tied 5-5.
In the extra frame, Graeme Macauley was the hero. His second goal of the game, fifth of the year, gave Milton their first lead of the game, and the 6-5 OT win over the Buffalo Jr. Sabres.
Glen Crandall was in net for Milton. He didn’t have the busiest (or prettiest) night, stopping 17 of 22 shots. That gave him a .772% save percentage for the game.
Next up for the Menace, they’ll head to Oakville to take on the Blades. Puck-drop at the Sixteen Mile Sports Complex is set for 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 10th.
They will return home on Sunday, November 12th for a game against the Aurora Tigers. Puck-drop at the Milton Memorial Arena is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Milton Menace home tickets for this OJHL season can be found here.
