No one likes a tie.
The Milton Menace welcomed the Leamington Flyers into the Milton Memorial Arena on Friday, September 22nd. The Menace were on a four-game winning streak heading into this game, including outscoring their opponents 24-5 in their last three matchups.
In the first period, the Flyers took the lead early. Milton would then tie it up at the 4:42 mark, with Aidan Puley getting the goal, assisted by captain Connor Driscoll and Graeme Macauley. About five minutes later, Leamington would take back the lead, and they’d take that 2-1 lead into the first intermission.
Less than four minutes into the second period, the Flyers took a 3-1 lead. Milton would start the comeback at the halfway point, with Owen Kindree getting his first of the season. It was assisted by Justin O’Donnell and Madden MacDougall. Tristan Tremble would then get his second of the year, assisted by Macauley and Gavin Sheehan. O’Donnell then got a goal of his own, this time unassisted, giving the Menace a 4-3 lead after two periods of play.
The Flyers would tie the game late in the third, which took the game to overtime. After two scoreless overtime periods, the game ended in a 4-4 draw.
Billed with the tie in net for the Menace was starter Glen Crandall. He stopped 32 of 36 shots, giving him an .888% save percentage.
