The Milton Community Fund continues to help local organizations!
The Milton District Hospital was able to show off their brand-new lntelliVue Patient Monitor MX 750. This was through a $43,042 grant from the Fund. The new piece of equipment will be used to monitor patients’ vital signs during day surgeries and endoscopy procedures, such as colonoscopy and gastroscopy. Having this supplementary patient monitor will enhance the hospital’s ability to keep up with the increasing demand for both day surgeries and endoscopic procedures. It will also provide a backup for current equipment.
“Timely testing and surgical intervention is key to ensuring the best outcome possible for our patients,” explains Dr. Kevin Kwan, MDH Chief of Surgery. “Having ready access to these specialized patient monitors is crucial as we continue to accommodate our growing patient population. It will enable us to better utilize our existing surgical and day procedure spaces so we can conduct more surgical and endoscopy procedures.”
“We are always grateful for the funding provided by the Milton Community Fund,” notes Janet Skupsky, Chief Operating Officer at Milton District Hospital. “Over the years, this fund has helped us purchase vital pieces of medical equipment. This year’s donation means our community members will have increased access to endoscopies and surgical procedures, close to home.”
“These grants provide us the ability to better serve our ever-growing community and may reduce surgical wait times,” concludes Dr. Kwan. “We thank the Town of Milton for helping provide our medical teams with the tools they need to provide the best possible care to our patients.”
The Milton Community Fund was established in 2001 to distribute a portion of the funds that the Town received from the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation for having Elements Casino Mohawk. The Town received more than $2.5 million earlier this summer. Since 1994, host communities have received more than $2 billion in non-tax gaming revenue.
