Two people have been arrested in what the Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) is calling ‘Project Wander’.
Between Wednesday, September 6th – Thursday, September 7th, Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrants were executed at a condominium and self storage unit in Mississauga, as well as a residence in Halton Hills. As a result of the warrants, investigators located and seized the following:
- A loaded Glock 27 prohibited compact handgun
- Bundled Canadian currency in excess of $20,000
- Money counters, cutting agents, and digital scales
- 1.5 kilograms of methamphetamine
- Just under 1 kilogram of purple fentanyl
- Just under 1 kilogram of cocaine
- 60 Oxycodone pills
25-year-old Gurkamal Khakh of Mississauga has been charged with:
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (Cocaine, Fentanyl, Methamphetamine, Oxycodone) – four counts
- Possession of Proceeds of Crime Over $5,000
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Careless Use of a Firearm (Storage)
- Possession of a Prohibited Firearm with Ammunition
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing it’s Possession is Unauthorized
- Breach of Firearms Prohibition Order
24-year-old Tavleen Towana of British Columbia has been charged with:
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (Oxycodone)
- Possession of Proceeds of Crime Over $5,000
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Careless Use of a Firearm (Storage)
- Possession of a Prohibited Firearm with Ammunition
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing it’s Possession is Unauthorized
Both were held pending a bail hearing on Wednesday, September 6th.
At the time of his arrest, Khakh was under a Firearm Prohibition Order with conditions not to possess any firearms.
