The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) has arrested a Burlington made following an investigation into recent reports of dangerous driving.
On Saturday August 5th, at roughly 11:30 a.m., an officer with the HRPS District Response Unit (3 District) observed several motorcycles in the area of Plains Road and Royal Botanical Gardens in Burlington. One of motorcycles had a plate bent upwards concealing the digits. The officer attempted a traffic stop with the motorcycle, however the driver pulled into a parking lot of the Royal Botanical Gardens, made a U-turn and fled westbound on Plains Road towards Hamilton. While driving westbound, the motorcycle was observed weaving between vehicles and cutting off several drivers.
A follow-up investigation identified the driver of the motorcycle to be a 26-year-old Burlington man.
On Monday August 21st, he was arrested and charged with the Criminal Code offences of Flight from Peace Officer and Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle. The man was also charged with Highway Traffic Act offences.
He was released with a court date of Wednesday, September 13th in Milton.
The HRPS has a zero-tolerance approach to Street Racing and Stunt Driving. All matters are investigated as the serious criminal offences that they are.
