A Halton Hills woman is among a pair of out-of-region impaired driving charges.
On Monday, August 14th, at roughly 5:30 p.m., members of the Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received the report of a possible impaired driver from a concerned citizen in the area of Broadway in Orangeville. Officers located the vehicle and driver a short time later and were led into an impaired driving investigation.
As a result, a 34-year-old man from Caledon has been charged with:
- Failure or refusal to comply with demand
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Drive motor vehicle – not equipped with ignition interlock device
On Tuesday, August 15th, at roughly 2:30 a.m., a Dufferin OPP officer conducted a traffic stop in the area of Broadway in Orangeville. The officer was led into an impaired driving investigation.
As a result, a 36-year-old woman from Halton Hills has been charged with:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Fail to remain
- Drive motor vehicle – no licence
Remember, driving under the influence is considered a crime in progress. Call 9-1-1 if you suspect that someone on the road is driving impaired.
Here are some signs of an impaired driver provided by the Halton Police:
- Driving unreasonably fast, slow or at an inconsistent speed;
- Drifting in and out of lanes;
- Tailgating and changing lanes frequently;
- Making exceptionally wide turns;
- Changing lanes or passing without sufficient clearance;
- Overshooting or stopping well before stop signs or stop lights;
- Disregarding signals and lights;
- Approaching signals or leaving intersections too quickly or slowly;
- Driving without headlights, failing to lower high beams or leaving turn signals on; and,
- Driving with windows open in cold or inclement weather.
The HRPS says that its officers remain committed to road safety through prevention, education, and enforcement initiatives.
