The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) – Child Abuse and Sexual Assault Unit has made an arrest in relation to the sexual assault of a young boy in Burlington.
The HRPS says that on Thursday, July 13th, at roughly 8:25 p.m., the suspect sexually assaulted the victim in a vehicle in a parking lot in the area of Guelph Line and Upper Middle Road in Burlington. The suspect and victim are known to one another.
On Friday, July 14th, investigators arrested 51-year-old Rico Salvador Roman of Burlington. He has been charged with:
- Sexual Assault
- Sexual Interference
Roman was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Investigators believe there may be additional victims in relation to Roman and are asking anyone with information, or anyone who has been victimized by him to contact the Child Abuse and Sexual Assault Unit at 905-825-4777 ext. 8970.

Sexual assault is described as any touching of another person without their consent where the touching is of a sexual nature, or where the sexual integrity of the victim is violated. A sexual assault can range from unwanted touching to sexual assault involving penetration.
There is no statute of limitation when it comes to reporting a sexual assault. This means that no matter how long ago the sexual assault happened, you can still report it to police for investigation.
