Canadian Blood Services is calling for new donors.
Only a small group of donors have continued donating blood since the beginning of the pandemic.
Donor participation rate has dropped from just under four per cent of the eligible population to under two per cent.
The Shine a Light campaign… is running now and through National Blood Donor Week…which is June 11 to 17.
The aim is to encourage people to begin donating on a regular basis.
More than 100,000 new blood and plasma donors are needed every year to meet ongoing patient needs.
