Speeding continues to be a major issue in Milton and Halton.
The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) were recently a part of the launch of Project ERASE. They’ll be alongside Peel Regional Police, Barrie Police, Durham Regional Police, Hamilton Police, the Ontario Provincial Police, Toronto Police Service, Waterloo Regional Police Service, and York Regional Police. The goal of the E.R.A.S.E Program (Eliminating Racing Activities on Streets Everywhere) is to change poor driver behaviour through education and strategic enforcement.
There have been plenty of local cases of high speeds in Milton and Halton Hills as of late. In the last week, at least six vehicles were in need of a tow after being caught going as high as 55km/h over the speed limit.
This driver was certainly in a rush as it passed your 1DRU and another vehicle in a 60kmhr zone..that vehicle took off in the 80kmhr zone getting up to a speed of 135kmhr on Guelph Line. Driver had no idea they passed an officer in the process. Charges laid, vehicle impounded

Street racing is an illegal and dangerous activity that jeopardizes the lives of innocent people. This project will target street racing in the various regions with combined resources through multiple police services. To ensure utmost safety on our roads, Peel Regional Police and our other partners, will have zero tolerance for dangerous driving behaviours and street racing activities.
Drivers are reminded that they will be subject to charges and penalties for offences under the Highway Traffic Act (HTA) and breaking municipal by-laws; and could face seizure of their vehicles and a roadside suspension of their driver’s licence.
Road safety is a crucial policing function, and one which all members of Peel Regional Police are committed to. 24 hours a day, seven days a week, officers continue to enforce the speed limit, address aggressive and impaired driving, in addition to a variety of other road safety measures.
Driving complaints can also be filed through the Road Watch portal, or contact the HRPS or Crime Stoppers.
