A lot of local volunteers had the chance to show their love last week!
It was Show Your Local Love Day on Wednesday, May 17th. More than 120 volunteers from Halton & Hamilton came together to participate in dozens of projects to make a meaningful impact to local, United Way-partnered agencies.
“We know that many of the agencies United Way supports are struggling to keep up with the cost-of-living crisis in maintaining programs and operations,” says Brad Park, president and CEO of United Way Halton & Hamilton. “Just as we work every day to ensure our friends and neighbours facing economic challenges are able to make ends meet, we’re also looking out for the agencies that create the social safety net so many people rely on.”
The volunteers were able to choose between in-person or virtual projects, sharing their strengths and abilities in support of vital frontline agencies and the programs that help so many people in need.
“Seeing so many volunteers come together to clean up garden beds, or help with a fresh coat of paint, shows that we are all committed to making our community a place where everyone can thrive,” adds Park. “Thank you to all of the volunteers who helped to make this year’s Show Your Local Love Day an incredible success.”
Whether volunteers showed up to lend a helping hand landscaping, gardening or painting, helping to organize an agency event, or packing menstrual hygiene kits, this year’s Show Your Local Love Day participants came together to support essential agencies providing critical programs to people in the community.
