Conservation Halton is inviting residents to help pull an invasive species from the ground.
According to the government of Ontario, garlic mustard is “an invasive herb native to Europe. It was brought to North America in the early 1800s for use as an edible herb. Available in the early spring and high in vitamins A and C, it has a strong, distinctive smell similar to garlic.”
In an effort to get rid of the plant in our area, Conservation Halton will be holding an event on Saturday, May 6th. It’ll be at Hidden Valley Park in Burlington from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. All ages are welcome, and gloves for picking will be provided.
You can RSVP by emailing stewardship@hrca.on.ca, but drop-ins are welcome.
If you’re looking to utilize your green thumb in other ways on Saturday, check out this event happening at Milton’s Beaty library branch.
