Milton Sports Centre (2020)
Earth Day is coming up and the Town of Milton has all kinds of activities that you can take part in to help the planet.
This year’s theme is Invest in our Planet. Leading up to, and following, Earth Day on April 22nd, the Town of Milton is holding a two-week community clean-up initiative. From April 15th – 30th clean-up kits will be available at the Milton Sports Centre during the facility’s hours of operation. The kits include gloves, garbage bags, and a map of surrounding areas
If you head outside and participate in local clean-ups, email operations@milton.ca:
- To notify the Town so they can pick up the garbage bags in a timely manner; and,
- Send them a picture to share so they can thank you for your efforts in keeping Milton clean!
There will also be a special Earth-Day clean-up event in partnership with Sustainable Milton on Saturday, April 22nd. It’ll run from 9:00 a.m. to noon at the south side of the Milton Sports Centre.
In recognition of Earth Day, Milton is planting several hundred trees and shrubs this spring and later this fall with our environmental partners Sustainable Milton and Conservation Halton, in addition to the hundreds of trees being planted in streetscapes and parks.
On May 20th, the Town of Milton will take part in a spring planting day with Conservation Halton. It will be at the north side of the Milton Sports Centre along a retention pond.
Other ways you can get involved this year:
- Complete Milton’s Earth Day scavenger hunt
- Use reusable bags and utensils
- Cook a plant-based meal
- Ride a bike
- Use a reusable water bottle
- Save electricity and turn off lights when you leave a room
