We have the latest impaired driving report from the Halton Police.
There were seven cases across Halton over the long weekend:
On Monday, April 3rd, Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Kerr Street and Speers Road in Oakville. As a result of an investigation, a 33-year-old Oakville man was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Thursday, April 6th, Halton Police officers responded to a single motor vehicle collision in the area of Fairview Street and Walkers Line in Oakville. As a result of an investigation, a 54-year-old Burlington man was charged with blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Thursday, April 6th, Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Dundas Street and Northampton Drive in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, a 42-year-old Mississauga man was charged with operation while impaired.
On Friday, April 7th, Halton Police officers responded to a collision in the area of Eighth Line and No. 5 Sideroad in Halton Hills. As a result of an investigation, a 38-year-old Oakville man was charged with blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Saturday, April 8th, Halton Police officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of 5 Side Road and Tenth Line in Halton Hills. As a result of an investigation, a 27-year-old Post Perry resident was charged with blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Saturday, April 8th, Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Trafalgar Road and Cornwall Road in Oakville. As a result of an investigation, a 60-year-old Oakville woman was charged with operation while impaired and failure or refusal to comply with demand.
On Sunday, April 9th, Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Main Street East and Harris Boulevard in Milton. As a result of an investigation, a 40-year-old Milton resident was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
Remember, driving under the influence is considered a crime in progress. Call 9-1-1 if you suspect that someone on the road is driving impaired.
Here are some signs of an impaired driver provided by the Halton Police:
- Driving unreasonably fast, slow or at an inconsistent speed;
- Drifting in and out of lanes;
- Tailgating and changing lanes frequently;
- Making exceptionally wide turns;
- Changing lanes or passing without sufficient clearance;
- Overshooting or stopping well before stop signs or stop lights;
- Disregarding signals and lights;
- Approaching signals or leaving intersections too quickly or slowly;
- Driving without headlights, failing to lower high beams or leaving turn signals on; and,
- Driving with windows open in cold or inclement weather.
The HRPS says that its officers remain committed to road safety through prevention, education, and enforcement initiatives.
