A Milton soccer player has scored her first international goal!
With a Maltese background, Michela Ionadi has been playing overseas for Team Malta in the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) under 19 (U19) Women’s National Team European Championship Qualifications.
When speaking with the Milton Youth Soccer Club (MYSC) about the experience, she mentioned how she’s known since the age of three that she wanted to play soccer at an elite level.
“I knew that I wanted to be here the first day I put on my soccer shoes and MYSC kit.”
She adds that she’s grateful for the experience to play overseas in the qualifications.
The teenager credits everyone at the Milton Youth Soccer Club for helping her prepare for success.
“I would like to thank my Milton Magic family for all the support from coaches to staff and my teammates. I wouldn’t be here living my dream.”
The goal was scored against Faroe Islands. Malta lost 4-2 after giving up three goals in the final 10+ minutes.
