Do you know an elite local athlete that deserves the recognition of the Milton Sports Hall of Fame?
Nominations are open for this year’s ceremony. The 2023 Milton Sports Hall of Fame Induction ceremony is held every year in November at the Milton Sports Centre.
Board Member Rod McLachlan says the Hall began back in 2014 as a committee. They then began inducting people in 2016, and have been holding annual ceremonies since then. The goal is to re-stock the cupboard of nominees.

He’s hoping they get all kinds of nominations that will then make their job difficult. The more nominees, the better the class of inductees will be this fall.
31 inductees have seen their names added the annals of Milton’s sports history. McLachlan says each person and their family has felt incredibly gracious about the honour and recognition.

Everyone is proud of their hometown and where they came from, especially when they’ve put the proverbial blood, sweat, and tears into developing their talents and their respective sport here in Milton.
Last year’s ceremony was the return to normal for the Milton Sports Hall of Fame. They were able to have a full room with friends and family in attendance. The year prior, in 2021, the event was split up into sections, having each inductee come in individually to accept their spot in the Hall. McLachlan is happy to see things back to pre-pandemic levels and hopes the good fortune continues.
Residents are asked to submit their nominations for a player, team or builder by Sunday, April 30th. You can continue to nominate people after that date, they will just be added to the pool for the class of 2024 instead.
The Milton Sports Hall of Fame is scheduled for Thursday, November 16th. A location and other details are still being worked on, so McLachlan asks for residents to keep an eye out for any incoming announcements.
