The latest impaired driving report from the Halton Police is now available.
There were seven cases across Halton over the St. Patrick’s Day weekend:
On Friday, March 17th, Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Main Street East and Martin Street in Milton. As a result of an investigation, a 28-year-old Toronto woman was charged with failure or refusal to comply with demand.
On Friday, March 17th, Halton Police officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Upper Middle Road and Ford Drive in Oakville. As a result of an investigation, a 30-year-old Brampton man was charged with blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Friday, March 17th, Halton Police officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Speers Road and Morden Road in Oakville. As a result of an investigation, a 51-year-old Port Colborne man was charged with blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Friday, March 17th, Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Longmoor Drive and Stephanie Street in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, a 39-year-old Burlington man was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Friday, March 17th, Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Sixth Line and Hays Boulevard in Oakville. As a result of an investigation, a 38-year-old Oakville man was charged with blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Saturday, March 18th, Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Maple Avenue and Fairview Street in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, a 44-year-old Grimsby man was charged with blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Saturday, March 18th, Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Dundas Street West and Postmaster Drive in Oakville. As a result of an investigation, a 34-year-old Peterborough man was charged with operation while impaired and failure or refusal to comply with demand.
Remember, driving under the influence is considered a crime in progress. Call 9-1-1 if you suspect that someone on the road is driving impaired.
Here are some signs of an impaired driver provided by the Halton Police:
- Driving unreasonably fast, slow or at an inconsistent speed;
- Drifting in and out of lanes;
- Tailgating and changing lanes frequently;
- Making exceptionally wide turns;
- Changing lanes or passing without sufficient clearance;
- Overshooting or stopping well before stop signs or stop lights;
- Disregarding signals and lights;
- Approaching signals or leaving intersections too quickly or slowly;
- Driving without headlights, failing to lower high beams or leaving turn signals on; and,
- Driving with windows open in cold or inclement weather.
The HRPS says that its officers remain committed to road safety through prevention, education, and enforcement initiatives.
