Drivers in New Tecumseth are being reminded to keep their licence plates up to date.
Nottawasaga OPP has now installed and activated the Automated Licence Plate Recognition and In-Car-Camera systems in all patrol vehicles.
Not an issue if your vehicle’s plates are up to date and you have insurance.
According to police, if your vehicle is stolen, has the wrong plates, outdated plates or the driver is wanted for any number of reasons including being wanted by police the ALPR
system will pick up this information.
Police say the licence plate reader will make it easier and faster especially in a situation where time is of the essence.
Such as finding a prohibited driver or missing person such as during an Amber Alert.
Vehicle owners are not required to purchase an actual validation sticker for their vehicle, but licence plates are still required to be renewed.
