A Halton-native is likely sticking around with his National Football League (NFL) team.
The Los Angeles Rams tendered the exclusive rights of linebacker Michael Hoecht. This means, because of his limited NFL service, the Oakville-native is unable to negotiate with other teams and will return to the Rams for the 2023 NFL season.

The 25-year-old Brown University product was signed by the Rams as an undrafted rookie free agent in the spring of 2020. After spending 2020 on the team’s practice squad, Hoecht has since played in 34 NFL games, getting 38 total tackles and 4.5 sacks (all of which were recorded in 2022). The 6’4″, 310lbs player was also a special team specialist when the Rams won the Super Bowl.
Hoecht will look to be a key part of a Rams defence that has lost several star players, including Jalen Ramsey, Leonard Floyd, and Bobby Wagner.
