Another new school in Milton is getting a financial upgrade!
The Ontario Government has provided the Halton Catholic District School Board (HCDSB) with an additional investment of $2.1 million for the new Milton #9 Catholic Elementary School. The total funding for the school is now up to $24.8 million.
Once built, this elementary school will provide 671 spaces and 88 childcare spaces for local families.
“The funding for a new Catholic Elementary School in Milton is great news for our community,” says Parm Gill, MPP for Milton. “Our government continues to invest in our community and support hard working parents, teachers, and students. We remain committed to keeping students in classrooms and meeting their intellectual and physical needs.”
This is the second announcement of this kind for a Milton school this week as St. Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic Secondary School was provided with an additional $13.5 million in funding. Both investments are part of a $14 billion commitment made by the province to support school construction, repair and renewal over 10 years.
“Our government is investing $14 billion over ten years to build new schools, improve existing facilities and create childcare spaces to ensure young people can reach their full potential,” says Stephen Lecce, Minister of Education. “By building the new state-of-the-art Milton #9 Catholic Elementary School, as well as investing in tutoring and mental health supports for the year ahead, we are getting students back on track now and well into the future. While we make progress building this new Milton #9 Catholic Elementary School to support hard-working parents, we remain committed to keeping students in more normal classrooms with extra curriculars, sports, and clubs.”
The Government of Ontario is delivering more than $26.6 billion in education funding for the 2022-23 school year, which is the highest investment in public education in Ontario’s history.
“Our schools continue to attract families who wish to instill in their children the gift of a Catholic education,” says Marvin Duarte, Chair of the Halton Catholic School Board and Milton Trustee. “We are grateful for the ongoing support and commitment of the Ministry of Education through the provision of funding to help us build new school buildings to better serve the needs of our Milton students and families.”
Milton #9 Catholic Elementary School will be located at Gordon Krantz Avenue and Kovachik Boulevard in Milton.
