We’re expecting lots of freezing rain in Milton.
A Freezing Rain Warning has been issued by Environment Canada for Thursday, February 9th. The national weather agency says residents can expect freezing rain followed by heavy rainfall and strong winds. Total rainfall amounts range between 15 – 25cm in the Statement, and that could lead to ice accretion on local roads. Combine that with winds gusting up to 80 km/h and you have yourself a pretty dangerous drive.
Here’s the breakdown by Environment Canada:
Freezing rain will begin early this morning and will transition to rain late this morning as temperatures climb above the freezing mark. As a result, a freezing rain warning is in effect. Rain will taper to showers by this evening. Strong southwesterly winds will develop this afternoon and diminish tonight.
High winds may toss loose objects or cause tree branches to break. Isolated utility outages are possible.
Localized flooding may occur in areas of poor drainage.
Things should clear up by Friday, as we expect a sunny weekend here in Milton and around Halton. Get the latest Milton forecast here.
Be smart, drive safe!
