Halton is expected to be represented at an upcoming summit that will cover auto thefts and carjackings.
Mayors, Regional Chairs, Police Services Board Chairs and Police Chiefs in Toronto, York, Durham, Halton, Hamilton, Ottawa and Niagara have been invited to join discussions, in addition to members of the OPP, CBSA, the GTAA and other key partners, including representatives from the provincial and federal governments. The summit is aimed at generating concrete actions to reduce auto thefts and carjackings and increase solvency rates.

“As a Board, we have been advocating for increased action to address car thefts and carjackings,” said says Peel Police Services Board Chair Ron Chatha. “Having been recently re-elected Chair of the Board, I want to ensure our community knows this issue is our top priority. We will continue to work with our partners as this problem transcends borders and requires a multi-jurisdictional solution.”
The summit will be hosted by Peel Regional Police on March 10th at the Toronto Airport Marriott. It will be livestreamed for interested viewers:
