Two people are facing charges after an investigation by the Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) into a store selling prohibited weapons.
On Thursday, February 2nd, investigators with the 3 District (Burlington) Street Crime Unit executed a search warrant at the ‘Big Bear’ store located at 450 Appleby Line in Burlington. As a result of the search, police seized the following items:
- Five Butterfly knives
- 21 Brass knuckles
- 53 Flick or torsion bar knives
- Six Spring assisted telescopic batons
- One Single handed crossbow
All of these weapons are prohibited as defined by the Criminal Code and were on display for sale.
On the same day, 29-year-old Anqi Liu and 32-year-old Zhengran Qiao, both of Burlington, were arrested and each have been charged with three counts of Possession for the Purpose of Weapons Trafficking.
